Tema: past continuous tense

Indicador de desempeño: Lee, redacta y comprende textos cortos y
largos relacionados con el past continuos

Seguramente al escuchar “past continuos” así nos sentimos,

Pero hoy vamos a recordar y repasar y así nos daremos cuenta que no es
tan complicado y que solo hay que poner un poco de atención.
 The past continuous (estructura gramatical)

El pasado continuo se utiliza para acciones que estaban pasando en un

momento específico en el pasado. Como el presente continuo, se forma
con el verbo auxiliar “to be” y el verbo+ing

Sujeto Auxiliar (to be) Verb+ing

Talking, eating, learning, doing,
I, he, she, it was
going…
Talking, eating, learning, doing,
you, we, they were
going…

Jose called while I was watching the news.(Jose llamó mientras estaba
mirando las noticias.)

He was walking to work when he fell. (Estaba caminando al trabajo

cuando se cayó.)

Se usa el pasado continuo para hablar sobre acciones en un tiempo

específico en el pasado.

Oraciones afirmativas en pasado continuo

Pronombre personal + was / were + verbo + Ing. + complemento

I was talking to you when my mother called

 Oraciones negativas

Pronombre personal + was / were + not + verbo + Ing. +

complemento

I was not talking to you when my mother called

Oraciones interrogativas

Was / were + pronombre personal + verbo + ing + complemento +

signo de interrogación

Was I talking to you when my mother called?
