Worship in Mikkleheimr
Mortals across the Material Plane worship greater powers. Entities from Celestia,
Avernus, and elsewhere wield great power. There are thousands of entities that can be
considered gods and goddesses. They are unified by immortality, incredible power that
manifests in different ways, and the ability to grant power to mortals. But among these entities
are even greater beings, ones capable of creating universes, life, and more. These Major
Deities claim that they formed Mikkleheimr for their own amusement in a previously empty
universe. And when it came time, it was them that created the mortal races.
Each of the mortal races holds that certain major gods were the ones that formed their
species. Those gods sit at the head of a Pantheon for each race that includes numerous deities.
Those smaller deities are often not worshiped much outside of those communities, but the major
gods are universally revered and worshiped outside whatever race they had a hand in creating.
When gods appear to mortals they often assume an appearance comforting to the witness. And
while they have no set form or race, their prefered form often mirrors the race whose pantheon
they lead.
At one point the gods often interacted with the mortals and had a dominant part in
shaping the events of Mikkleheimr. They fought and celebrated and lived amongst the rest of us,
with only the most powerful remaining on other planes. But Tiamat changed all of that. She
proved what happens when a god subordinates the will of mortals. After her defeat, the gods
created the Divine Concord. By fundamentally reshaping the laws of the universe, deities could
no longer travel across the planes themselves. Instead they must act through their chosen
mortals in the hopes of affecting the world. Other gods, the ones that did not accept the Concord
willingly may seek other ways to reenter the world. Occasionally certain followers are chosen to
be the Godhead of a deity, assuming immense power and responsibility in order to advance the
goals of their god.

Major Deities of Bahumia

Corellon Larethian, God of Creation

Of all the gods, Corellon is the one most invested in the affairs of mortals. As the
youngest major deity, if that term can even have meaning, he spent the First Age toying with
creating life. Eventually he created sentient life in the form of Elves, and shared that secret with
the other gods, resulting in all the mortal races. The freedom and unpredictably the mortals
bring is endlessly fascinating to Corellon and he revels in all of creation. That is why he would
create the Divine Concord in an attempt to give mortals more of a chance to thrive. It is by his
authority that divine laws are followed, and his authority is invoked when mortal laws are made.
When those laws are broken his wrath comes like a summer storm: swift, sure, and often with
lightning.
Pantheon: Elvish, Neutral Good
Common Domains: Life, Order, Tempest
Common Oaths: Crown, Devotion, Glory

Oghma, God of Knowledge

Since mortals have come into being they have filled the world with inventions and
creations, little trinkets to brighten their lives and great works to change the world. Oghma
embodies this curiosity found in all mortals. He regularly creates new discoveries or inventions
as a gift to his consort, Mystra. In return she often changes the Weave to allow all new
creations. Back and forth they trade gifts of magic and knowledge, using their followers as
emissaries. By providing that spark of creativity and inspiration Oghma helps the mortals in their
next step forward.
Pantheon: Gnomish, Neutral Good
Common Domains: Arcana, Knowledge, Trickery
Common Oaths: Watchers

Mystra, The Weaver

Between every creature, every object, every atom in existence is bonded together. The
Weave is purest form magic, bonding reality together. It is Mystra’s duty to oversee the Weave
and make sure it holds strong. Some of her adherents believe she was the one who made the
Weave while others think she merely took on that duty. Together with Oghma she created the
Gnomish race, in the hopes of creating a people that delight in magic and science as much as
the two of them. Whenever a spellcaster invents a new spell or brings new magic into the world,
Mystra watches as the Weave reshapes with joy. While her worship is most common among the
Gnomish people, any place of study and spellcraft is likely to hold Mystra in great regard.
Pantheon: Gnomish, Lawful Neutral
Common Domains: Arcana, Knowledge, Twilight
Common Oaths: Watchers

Gruumsh One-Eye, God of Warfare

Combat is a natural part of existence. A battle for survival over resources that becomes
elevated to warfare of ideologies. Gruumsh One-Eye fuels that combat, pushing mortals to
achieve their goals through strength. He shaped the Orcish race to exemplify strength, loyalty,
and kinship upon the battlefield and set them against Moradin’s folk, the dwarves, to settle who
had the right way to lead a nation. However his fierce independence eventually put him at odds
with the other deities during Tiamat’s War. He rebelled against Corellon and the rest of the
alliance and turned the Orcish people against Bahumia. This has led worship of Gruumsh to
disappear from all but the traditionalist Orcs, making him desperate for a return to his former
stature.
Pantheon: Orcish, Lawful Neutral
Common Domains: Tempest, War
Common Oaths: Conquest, Glory, Vengeance

Melora Wild-Mother, Goddess of the Wild

The wild does not coddle it’s children. Baby birds die from falling from the nest and litters
of wolves either hunt or starve together. While some gods may shelter their flock, Melora does
not and instead visits hardships and trials on her followers and foes alike. But her followers
know how to use that strife to become more. In the jungles of Greyhawk, the beasts and people
of the land have become strong thanks to the Wild-Mother. Druids across the realm praise her
and see her presence in the wild things of the world, whether or not she is invoked.
Pantheon: Orcish, Chaotic Neutral
Common Domains: Nature, Tempest
Common Oaths: Ancients

Moradin Forge-King, God of Craftsmen

In the earliest days of the universe the firmaments of Mikkleheimr had to be laid. Built
upon it were the great continents and mountains of the world. It was only after Moradin finished
creating these that the rest of the gods could begin to fill the Material Plane. For a while he
rested, but upon seeing the new creation of the mortals he began to create once again. After an
argument with Gruumsh over the best way to shape a people, Dwarves began to march from
the mountains. Ever since Moradin has nudged the craftsmen and smiths of the world forward,
encouraging greater buildings and mightier weapons to be made. From time to time his own
creations make it to the mortals and cause subsequent chaos but for the most part he is content
to create and inspire.
Pantheon: Dwarvish, Lawful Good
Common Domains: Forge
Common Oaths: Watchers

Sharindlar, Goddess of the Hearth

The world is full of dark and dangerous places. Beyond your home’s door there is no
telling what may happen and the road may sweep travelers any number of places. The one
place that is always a refuge is the hearth and that is where Sharindalar can be found. Too often
are gods focused on the great powers of the world and ignore the fundamental aspects of
civilization. It is the clerics of Sharindalar that bless fields to be fruitful, that ward cities against
disease, and that dedicate themselves to others. The great gods of war and nature can thunder
and fight and their followers will do the same. But no one remains untouched by the gentle light
of Sharindlar.
Pantheon: Dwarvish, Neutral Good
Common Domains: Life, Light, Peace
Common Oaths: Devotion, Redemption

Brandobaris, God of Hospitality and Mischief

While the gods began making the mortal races, Brandobaris got an idea. If he snatched
pieces from Moradin’s Forge, the Labs of Oghma and Mystra, the jungles of Gruumsh, and the
Palace of Corellon, then he might try his hand at making a race himself. The sturdiness,
cleverness, wisdom, and loyalty of the other races ought to go well together. And so the
halflings were created. Through the eons Brandobaris was always at the center of any great
trick or prank and his disciples endeavored to live up to his example. Oddly enough Brandobaris
is also revered as a god of great hospitality. While you can never trust him in your own home, as
a host he has no equal. The halfling race takes pride in this reputation as well and often
compete to outdo each other in kindness.
Pantheon: Halfling, Chaotic Good
Common Domains: Arcana, Trickery
Common Oaths: Ancients, Watchers

Lolth, Goddess of Vengeance

Deep below the surface of Mikkleheimr, in the dark twists and tunnels of the Underdark
shrines to the Spider-Queen. Lolth was once the Queen of the Elvish gods and consort to
Corellon. She helped create the Elvish people and delighted in watching her creation thrive.
When Romulus and the rest of the Singing Swords fell and fled into the Underdark, she was the
only deity willing to follow them. Together they descended and it would only be Loth’s guidance
that lit the tunnels of the Drow. In the centuries she has grown spiteful of the rest of creation
turning their backs on the Drow and is willing to lend power to any who seek to rearrange the
Cosmos.
Pantheon: Drow (Formally Elvish), Chaotic Evil
Common Domains: Death, Grave, Tickery
Common Oaths: Vengeance

Major Deities of Sylvain

Bahumat, God of Justice

The scales of justice weigh the actions of all beings, from the smallest mortal to the
greatest god. In due time all receive justice, sometimes tempered by mercy and sometimes
darkened by vengeance. Bahumat, the Platinum Dragon, is justice made flesh. Capable of
reigning in even the haughty dragons, his ways are truly alien to most mortals. His worship is
common amongst Dragons and Dragonborn and falls into a great duality of the universe.
Opposed to him is Tiamat, sister and opposite, and their battle has colored the history of this
world.
Pantheon: Draconic, Lawful Neutral
Common Domains: Knowledge, Light, Order
Common Oaths: Crown, Watchers

Tiamat, Goddess of Power

Power does not need morality. It does not need justification. It only exists for those that
can wield it. Tiamat is the endpoint of power. A being so great that her mere presence in this
world would spell doom. The great five headed Dragon Queen looks upon everything that does
not obey as something that has yet to break. Chromatic Dragons and others worship her in the
hopes of gaining some sliver of her strength. But this always comes at a price, one that Tiamat
exacts no matter what. The Divine Concord was created to limit the influence of deities like her
and she has spent every day since amassing followers to prepare her coming
Pantheon: Draconic, Neutral Evil
Common Domains: Tempest, War
Common Oaths: Conquest, Vengeance

Asmodeus, God of the Damned

Avernus is a twisted hellscape of pain and suffering all the way down to the final layer,
Nessus. There, upon a fiery throne is Asmodeus the Demon King. He is the undisputed leader
of the Demonic Pantheon, a difficult task when it involves balancing powerful Arch-Demons.
From the beginning he opposed Corellon and the creation of the mortal races. In response to
the Bahumian races, Asmodeus brought forth the Demons, Tieflings, and Monstrous folk to
populate Sylvain and work to bring others into his fold. In Asmodeus’ eyes, there must always
be balance and someone to push back against the light. So he plots from the bottom of
Avernus, making deals and bargains, playing at a chessboard no one else can see.
Pantheon: Demon, Lawful Evil
Common Domains: Death, Knowledge, Trickery, War
Common Oaths: Conquest, Crown, Oathbreakers
Kol Turrant, The Keeper and God of Greed
The Giants of Sylvain are proud creatures with little need for gods. Any power they need
can be found within according to them. Therefore their worship of Kol Turrant is unique, more of
a peer as the greatest of the Giants, than a god. And Kol Turrant lives up to that acclaim,
exemplifying the strength, cunning, and greed that Giants rever. He constantly seeks to
accumulate power and glory either through strength or deceit. Once he was one of the most
active gods on the Material Plane but the Divine Concord has prevented him directly enjoying
himself. So now he works through disciples towards the same goals of wealth and power.
Pantheon: Giant, Neutral Evil
Common Domains: Forge, Tempest, Trickery
Common Oaths: Ancients, Conquest

Other Major Deities

Pholtus and Pelor, Twin Gods of the Sun

The Sun shines on the lands of Mikkleheimr. On every single being, it sheds light and
helps guide the way. But the light comes from different deities. Whenever a battlefield bakes
under the sun’s rays, a hero’s armor glimmers in daylight, or a ruler looks over their kingdom
that is the light of Pelor. Pelor is the god of fire and glory, combat and conquest. He lights the
way for the great heroes of each age and burns away at the failures. Yet the sun also shines on
crops of humble farmers, lights the common folk as they toil their days away, and illuminates the
graves of the fallen. That is the light of Pholtus. He is a god of healing and protection, life and
growth. He lights the way for the people that get ignored by the tides of history. These twin gods
encompass the duality of man’s relationship with light and could not be more different in
disposition. According to myth they are just as likely to fight each other as they are to fight
alongside each other. Similar to their deities, the mortal followers of the twins either work well
together spreading the light or come to blows over how to proceed.
Pantheon: Human, Lawful Good
Common Domains: Life, Light, Order, War (Pelor), Peace (Pholtus)
Common Oaths: Conquest (Pelor), Devotion, Glory, Redemption (Pholtus)

Selellune, Goddess of the Moon

Of the three moons of Mikkleheimr, Selellune dominates the night sky. Named after its
goddess, the moon quietly paces out time through its phases. The goddess Selellune is similarly
patient, watching over the world. She watches over the outcasts of the world and brings light in
the darkness when most needed. While she is thought to have helped create the Human race,
she doesn’t care much for how they’ve turned out. Instead she focuses on her chosen people,
the Lycanthropes. Either a curse or a gift, any who become one falls under her care, no matter
their race.
Pantheon: Human, True Neutral
Common Domains: Nature, Twilight
Common Oaths: Ancients
Ioun, Deity of Life and Love
There are some deities that defy categorization. Ioun is not of Celestia or Avernus. They
are not bound to one place on the Material Plane nor do they reign over some other plane. No,
Ioun is a deity that roams the world unfettered and it is from them that the gifts life is granted.
Seldom do they manifest before a follower at all and can instead only be felt in the strength
granted in moments of weakness. Their followers are also unique amongst the pious of the
world. Ioun’s power cannot manifest in selfish ways, only in the granting of aid to others. Their
power only manifests in the gifts to the world, and often manifests stronger than any other.
Pantheon: None, Neutral Good
Common Domains: Life, Light, Peace
Common Oaths: Devotion

The Raven Queen, Goddess of Death

All things must face an end. Even the universe is born towards death through entropy.
Even the Gods must die. In Shadowfell, reigning unchallenged, is the Raven Queen. It falls on
her to decide when to take back the gifts of Ioun. When the time comes no pleas or entreaties
will change her mind. Those that do defy her will, the undead and those that raise them without
her permission, incur a wrath that is without parallel. Few worship the Raven Queen. Why would
they? What is the point of praying to a goddess that is unmoving in her machinations.
Pantheon: None, True Neutral
Common Domains: Death, Grave, Twilight
Common Oaths: Ancients, Watchers

Minor Deities
While these gods and goddesses are not as widely worshiped as the Major Deities, in certain
communities they are quite influential. Often marked by unorthodox origins and unique roles on
the Material Plane, Minor Deities rank above the multitudes of beings that only ever gain local
worship.

Tethrin Veraldé and Alatherin Druanna

The first two elves were created by Corellon and according to elves, the first
mortal beings ever. These two ruled over the Second Age and were granted immortality at the
end of their reigns. They are regarded as the protectors of Valinor and are thought to watch over
their nation to this day. Elves worship them as their spiritual ancestors but worship of them is
almost unheard of in other races.

Maglubiyet
The God of Goblins never attained much status. While he is single handedly responsible
for bringing the Goblinoid races into being, that never led to more power among the other gods.
He is perhaps overly invested in mischief and chaos and is notorious for causing trouble
throughout Avernus. Oddly enough he is good friends with Brandobaris and their influences can
often be found together whenever tricksters pray.

The Solar Phoenix

Not much is known about the origins of the Solar Phoenix but he is often associated with
Pelor and Pholtus. Throughout the Fourth Age the Phoenix led others against Tiamat and
gained acclaim as the Demigod of Heros and Adventures. Thanks to his Demigod status, the
Divine Concord does not apply and he is able to travel about the Material Plane at will. Not
many truly worship the Phoenix but he is held in high regard by any who aim to follow in his
footsteps. The University of Phoenix is his current roost and center of power.

Norse Pantheon
Early in the Third Age a band of heroes journeyed north to attempt to settle the wild and
dangerous lands. Led by Wodin Many-Names, the group somehow experienced an apotheosis
and became gods and goddesses. This New Pantheon established itself throughout Norðrhiemr
and helped usher in settlers and explorers. Not truly welcome amongst the Old Gods, they
instead created Yggdrasil and developed their influence over those realms. They are much
more active than other gods which has led to massive popularity amongst their followers who
can rely on divine aid.

Archfey
The Archfey are not true gods in any sense of the term. But some do gain a following
and are even able to act similar to gods. Titania, Cernunnos, and the Queen of Air and
Darkness occasionally pass themselves off as deities in particular. While their influence never
expands far past the Feywild, they do wield great power in their own courts.
