Requirements for contact connections.
Contact connections must be tested in accordance with the requirements of DSTU IEC
61238-1-3: 2019 Crimped and mechanical connectors for power cables. Part 1-3. Test
methods and requirements for crimped and mechanical connectors for power cables for
rated voltages from 1 kV (Um = 1.2 kV) to 30 kV (Um = 36 kV) tested on non-insulated
conductors (IEC 61238-1-3: 2018, IDT) or in accordance with IEC 61238, effective at the
time of testing:
- cyclic tests (not less than 1000 cycles): conductors with installed connectors for a certain
time are heated by the operating current to a temperature of not less than 120º and are in
this mode for 10 minutes, and then cooled to a temperature below 35º;

2.7 - after 200 heating cycles, the test specimens are exposed to short-circuit currents 6 times,
laboratory
and the conductor must be heated to 250º - 270º in 1 second, starting from the ambient
temperature (below 35º);
- the initial resistance of the connection is compared with the resistance of the conductor of
the same length: before and after the tests of 200 heating cycles and short-circuit currents,
and then every 75 cycles. The resistance shall not change by more than 100% after a
complete test cycle and shall not increase by more than 15% during the last 750 cycles;
contact connections are tested for 1 minute under the influence of axial load at the rate of
40 N / mm2 for aluminum conductors and 60 N / mm2 for copper conductors, but not more
than 21 kN. During this time, the conductors should not slip.
