TASK 2: ORAL PRESENTATION

TOPIC: HOW CAN COMPARISONS BETWEEN NOVICE AND EXPERT

EDUCATORS HELPS IN MAKING A THINKING TEACHER.

The Outline:

1.Introduction

-Teachers aim: to be an effective educator

-Being a thinking teacher is a need to be an effective teacher

-Thinking teachers are the experts among the educators.

-Evaluating a teacher’s capabilities is quite hard but can be done by doing

comparisons

-Differences in characteristics can be found between experts and novices.

-Developing thinking teachers can be assisted by doing comparisons (Reasons: point

out what thinking teachers do, understand the thinking teachers better, and having
the thinking teachers as role model for the novices)

2.0 Ideas

2.1 Can find out what the thinking teachers do that the made them achieves
more.

-There will be any noticeable differences that can be found between the thinking
teachers and those who are not

-Because there are things that made them considered as experts which made them
separated from the novices.

-Once identified, list them down.

-Think how the listed things can be implemented by the novices to make them
become a thinking teacher as soon as possible

-Therefore, we would be able to point out what separates the thinking teachers from
the novices.

2.2 Can better understands the thinking teachers better

1
-After knowing what they do which the novices did not do, we can try to dig out on
why they did it.

-From this effort, we can understand them better on why they do certain things.

-Example: Why they can easily plan their teaching at a faster rate than the novices.

-They know the important features of the task in the syllabus.

-By doing that, they can try to think of an alternative way in order to transfer the
information to their students more efficiently than just following the syllabus blindly.

2.3 Can better judge which should become a role model

-After knowing both groups, we would be able to identify which one is better than the
other.

-Follow what they do, make them as a role model.

-The novices can try to do the same thing as what the experts are doing.

-Idolising someone who is better would help them grow as an educator.

-Novices would be more motivated to improve themselves.

-People would tend to be more motivated once they have someone who shows all
the results which they want to achieve by themselves.

3.0 Conclusion

-Comparing the two groups can help us to make more thinking teachers in the future.

-Because we could:

-Find out what separates the novices and the thinking teachers

-Understands the thinking teacher a lot more

-Clearly find the perfect role model for novice teachers.

-Comparison must be done professionally to avoid bad perceptions on the groups

compared.
