ACTIVITY 1 Role Play


Textbook: p. 60

Unit 5 Free Time

Instructions (for pupils):


1. Work in a group of three or four.
2. In a group, Pupil A and Pupil B take a small piece of paper (with a phrase
written on it) from the teacher. Pupil C sits in front of the class, without knowing
the phrase they have picked.
3. Pupil A and Pupil B role-play. Pupil C guesses the phrase.
Instructions (for teachers):
1. Write phrases on pieces of paper. Fold the papers and give them to the groups
randomly.
2. Prepare necessary props for the role play.
3. Give some hints to Pupil C if necessary.

Unit 6 The Old House

Instructions:
1. Work in a group of four or five.
2. Teacher gives different sentence starters for pupils. Each group will receive a
different sentence starter.
3. Each member in a group must finish his/ her sentence and passes the paper to
the right. They will then read the one they receive and add another sentence to
it.
4. This will proceed until all members of the group have added their sentences to
the original.
5. Pupils read their stories in front of the class.

Sentence starters:

• I live in a big house…

• My father bought a house …

• I am a builder. I can build …

• There are many lovely animals in my house …

• My family and I have just moved to a new house …

Unit 7 Get Dressed!

Instructions (for pupils):


1. Work in a group of four or five.
2. Teacher prepares clothes such as dresses, shirts, blouses, shorts, socks,
trousers, caps, hats, skirts, T-shirts and word cards.
3. Teacher puts all the clothes on the desks in the middle of the class.
4. Teacher distributes word cards to each group. When the game starts, each
group leader moves to the middle of the class and finds the clothes according
to the word cards.
5. Group leaders go back to their groups and ask their members to put on the
clothes.
6. Teacher has to make sure each group gets the right clothing.

Unit 9 At the Beach

Instructions:
1. Teacher prepares tables as given below.
2. Pupils go around the classroom, interviewing their peers about activities they do
on different types of weather.
3. Their peers fill in the tables.
4. Pupils must get different people to fill in the tables.
5. Teacher allocates sufficient time for pupils to get as many tables filled in as
possible.
