Leave Travel Assistance

1. Objective
To define the entitlement and process of availing Leave Travel Assistance (LTA).

2. Applicability
All officers of the Company.

3. Entitlement
Annual LTA is classified based on the work level and position of the officer. LTA is
computed for the financial year. The details of entitlement are as follows:-

5 Sr. Mgr/ Manager/ Assistant Manager Rs. 35000/-
Sr. Engineer/ Engineer/ Assistant Engineer Rs. 32000/-

Jr. Executive /Jr. Engineer Rs. 25000/-

4. Process
4.1. At the beginning of the financial year, LTA amount is credited to all officers. This
can be either claimed or reimbursed.
4.2. To claim the LTA amount, an officer has to apply in a prescribed format to
Accounts Department. Income tax will be applicable on this claimed amount.
4.3. In case of reimbursement, an officer has to undertake journey to a designated
place. On return he has to submit the journey details in form “B” of LTA alongwith
the supporting documents of journey undertaken.
4.4. Expenses limited to travelling by the shortest possible distance by economy class
air fare will be exempted from income tax for self and family members within the
overall limit for the year.

5. General Guidelines
5.1. For officers joining during part of the Company, LTA is applicable from next
financial year. LTA accumulation for in the first year is carried forward to next
year.
5.2. There should be a minimum gap of six months from previous claim of LTA before
claiming next LTA.
5.3. Unavailed / unclaimed LTA amount will lapse at the end of financial year except
for the new recruits for whom LTA amount is carried forward for the first year.
5.4. Officers separating during the year are eligible for LTA amount on prorated basis.
Additional payment made towards LTA will be recovered in full and final
settlement.
5.5. The Income Tax exemption can be claimed twice in a block of four years.
