Perfect Comminution for Easy Shaping

The manufacture of high-quality ceramic products is decisively dependent on the starting materials, and it is im-
portant that the clay body be of homogeneous consistency and have defined properties. The only way to achieve
that is to systematically prepare the clay from the very moment of its extraction from the pit. The trouble is, every
clay pit yields a different raw material! HÄNDLE, though, offers a range of options for effectively precrushing the
raw material: crushing rollers for particularly hard, lumpy
material, knife crushers for soft to medium-hard clay,
and stone-eliminating crushers for material with
considerable rock content. Add to all that a
selection of waste shredders and other special-
purpose machines.

Tough Machines for Tough Jobs

All our crushing rollers have infinitely adjustable roller

gaps ranging from 5 mm to 100 mm. This gives you
exactly the right technology for material of whatever
description, for size reduction to whatever degree, and
for throughputs of whatever rate.
All models are available with an optional feed paddle
to accommodate particularly lumpy, sticky material.
Also, all machines with the exception of the WM 312
are available with mechanical (WMM) or hydraulic
(WMH) drives.
The fact that our mechanical and hydraulic crushing
Crushing roller for highest capacities with infinitely variable
rollers are infinitely adjustable, together with their
hydraulic drive
differential speeds, adds up to the most efficient,
energy-saving mode of operation.

Maximum-economy
Components
Design details minimize maintenance expenditures and
wear rates. For example, the rollers run on oversized
shafts that are supported in heavy-duty self-aligning
roller thrust bearings; the rolling crushers come with
either one-piece toothed disks or disks with individually
replaceable knives, and the cleaning knives are both
adjustable and individually replaceable.

Overload Protection

The models with mechanical drive (WMM) have a torque limiter with an adjustable
cutoff tripping torque. The hydraulic drive on WMH models has a particularly intelligent
built-in strategy: overloading causes the rollers to briefly stop, turn in the opposite
direction for about 5 seconds, and then resume their normal sense or rotation. This
dislodges blocked rocks and puts them in a different position prior to continuing on
with the highly efficient, energy-wise size-reduction process.

Stone eliminating roller crusher WSB 816b

In the case of pit material with a high rock content,

HÄNDLE-built stone-eliminating crushers reliably sepa-
rate the clay from its stones. Basically, these crushers
are of much the same design as crushing rollers,
except that they include a supplementary hydraulic
ejecting rake the eliminates foreign objects. As soon
as any stones begin to block up the roller drive, cau-
sing the torque to rise past a predefined level, the
crusher stops, and its ejecting rake moves in between
the crushing disks, dislodges the stones, and dispat-
ches them down a chute and into a receiver. After that,
the crusher goes back into action at its normal speed
and in its normal direction.

Sharp Knives vs. Tough Clay

Knife crushers by HÄNDLE are used for primary crus-

hing of soft and medium-hard clay with a dry-to-moist
consistency. They come with two knife roller assem-
blies featuring oversized roller shafts running in very
robust pillow blocks. The knives are hard-faced for
heavy duty and can be individually replaced.

Technology for Cost-efficient Recycling

HÄNDLE's waste shredders chop up clay residue left

over from, say, the shaping process. Hence, such
waste material need not be disposed of at considera-
ble expense, but instead can be fed right back into
the production process.
