For trip operations a voltage signal (source side) or a current signal can be used as reference for
synchronous switching. The voltage signal as reference is used in particular, with unloaded
transformers, were only a very small magnetizing current is flowing into the transformer.
The current signals are used for supervision (e.g. detecting a chopping process or a re-ignition)
For controlled auto-reclosing of lines at least one voltage signal from source side and all 3 voltage
signals from switched side must be provided. If the line voltage contains a DC component, the VT
must transform this.
For commissioning following signals are required additional to the reference for synchronous
switching.
a) Capacitive loads or reactors: current signals or voltage signals (switched side)
b) Transformer: voltage signals (switched side)
Voltage (Switched
side)
Current 100-200-400/1/1/1 0.5 /
