We have a passion for achieving excellence in all our endeavours; whether it is adding more value
to our existing products or diversifying into other areas of business. Having established our might
in the Iron and Steel Industry, we have begun generating Green Power in our plants and started
work to diversify into Mining and Cement industries.

Jai Balaji Group

DRI
Our Group is the market leader in the manufacture
of DRI in Eastern India. In fact, we were the first
player in the State to pioneer and successfully set
up the first coal based DRI plant in Raniganj, West
Bengal in 1999.

The raw materials required for

manufacture of DRI, namely Iron ore
and Coal, are procured by us from the
best mines in the country which gives
us an edge to ensure better quality with
high Fe metallic content in the range of
82%.

The DRI manufactured at our units is distinct due

to its high metallic content and consistent chemical
and physical characteristics. This provides furnace
owners flexibility in preparing their charge mix to
produce finer quality than what is possible using
steel scrap.

Pig Iron
We have installed state of the art facilities for the manufacture of Pig Iron at our plants in Durgapur, West Bengal.
With the most advanced equipments set up in our laboratories, we have emerged as the market leader for
manufacture of quality Pig Iron.

The different grades of Pig Iron we manufacture are Steel Grade Pig Iron and Foundry Grade Pig Iron. The Pig
Iron manufactured at our units is distinct due to its low levels of Sulphur and Phosphorous. Low levels of these
elements reduce the costs associated with desulphurization for furnace owners and help them with flexibility
in preparing charge mixes. Further, our produce ensures high quality castings, free from defects due to low
levels of impurities and intrusions. Consistent and appropriate levels of carbon and silicon help in providing
excellent machineability of castings.

Our Blast Furnaces have been designed in a manner to ensure optimum use of minerals. To this effect, we
operate a 60 square meter Sinter Plant at our Blast Furnace, which recycles the Iron-ore and Coke fines into
Sinter Cakes to be used as feed for the Furnace. Besides, our Pulverised Coal Injection Plant aims to reduce
the Coke Rate in our furnaces, our upcoming Coke Oven Batteries will make us self sufficient for our Coke
requirments.

Alloy, Carbon and Mild Steel Billets and Rounds
Our Group boasts of advanced Steel making facilities which not only includes the latest technologies in
metallurgy, but also equipments to ensure quality and accuracy in compositions. Our Steel Melting Shops
includes Electric Arc Furnaces and Induction Furnaces in West Bengal, Orissa and Chattisgarh.

We manufacture Billets and Blooms at our Steel Melting Shops in Alloy, Carbon and Mild Steel Grades. Our
facilities have been designed in a unique integrated manner, in which the Hot Metal from our Blast Furnace is
directly poured in the SMS through ladles. In the furnaces, DRI and Ferro Alloys are then added in appropriate
mixes to manufacture Liquid Steel.

The Liquid Steel is collected in ladles using the Eccentric Bottom Tapping method for ensuring absence of slag,
and sent to the Ladle Refining Furnace for desulphurization, followed by Vacuum Degassing unit for maintaining
the Oxygen and Nitrogen contents and removal of gaseous elements such as Hydrogen, etc. Next, the Liquid
Metal is sent to our Continuous Casting Machines (CCM) for moulding them into Billets or Blooms.

With the large scale production of steel at our units and availability of Railway Siding within our plant premises,
we are in a position to offer quantities beyond the capacities of our competition in the shortest possible time.

The Billets or Blooms so manufactured are also rolled into Alloy, Carbon & Mild Steel Rounds, Flats & Squares
at our Rolling Mills in Liluah and Durgapur, West Bangal. We are the oldest manufacturer of these items in the
State and have created a niche for ourselves amongst our customers who include a number of Alumina Smelting
giants such as Nalco, Vedanta, etc, where we supply Cathode and Anode Bars to their plants in India and
abroad. We have been awarded the Star Export House Status by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry,
Government of India.

Reinforcement Steel TMT Bars and Wire Rods
Balaji Shakti Thermex TMT Bars is one of the most respected names
in India for Reinforcement Steel Bars. Adapting the Thermex
technology of Hennigsdorfer Stahl Engineering, GMBH, Germany
our fully Integrated Steel Plant in Durgapur produces 260,000 MTs
of bars annually. Our plant is facilitated with the combined strength
of Blast Furnace and Electric Arc Furnace which ensures low sulphur
and phosphorus contents in steel. This unique feature is available
only at our Plant in Durgapur which helps us score above all our
co-manufacturers of TMT across the state.

Our strong and highly ductile bars are a preferred choice among
Civil Engineers because the structures they design with it consume
less steel preserving safety and strength. Our commitment to quality
has further been promoted by certifications from Bureau of Indian
Standards (BIS) under IS 1786:2008, Directorate General of Supplies
and Disposals (DGS&D), Military Engineering Services (MES) and
similar Government bodies. Our sizes vary between 8mm and 40mm
in all Fe 415 and Fe 500 Grades.

We have supplied to industries such as Nalco, Reliance Petroleum,

Essar Steel etc & infrastructure giants like HCC Limited, ITD
Cementation (India) Ltd. etc. Our steel bars have also been utilized
in projects of national importance under MES, NHAI, NHPC etc.

Ductile Iron Pipes
Ductile Iron is an alloy of Iron, Carbon and Silicon. If we
observe the micro structure of grey caste iron, we will notice
that graphite present in it is in the form of flakes. In the year
1948, the flakes structure of graphite was modified by adding
magnesium to the molten metal. The resultant product of
iron is now typically known as Ductile Iron or S.G. Iron.

The use of Ductile Iron Pipe has gone up at a rapid rate over
the last 60 years because of its proven external corrosion
protective coatings and cost effective internal linings as well
as higher tensile strength, yield strength, ductility and impact
resistance.

Our Group has set up a 2,40,000 TPA Ductile Iron Pipe Plant
at Durgapur, West Bengal, where we offer centrifugally cast
Ductile Iron Spun Pipes in accordance with ISO 2531:1998
/ BS EN 545 2006 suitable for push-on-joints with external
coatings and internal linings as per customer requirements.

External Coatings:
l Metallic Zinc coating with finishing layer of Bitumen
l Epoxy Coating
l Polyurethane coating

Internal Linings:
l Cement mortar lining using Portland Cement/Blast Furnace Slag Cement
l Cement mortar lining using Sulphat Resistance & High Alumina Cement
l Cement Mortar lining with Bitumen/Epoxy Seal Coat

Quality Control, Research & Development
Being an Integrated Steel Plant, we start controlling the quality of our products from the Raw Material stage
at the mines itself, where we conduct third party inspections before loading. Further, once the Raw Materials
reach our plant, we undertake Mineral Beneficiation at our Iron-ore and Coal Washery Plants. These washed
Raw Materials go a long way in removing inpurities and intrusions before being used in the production process.
This Quality Control feature indeed adds to our cost, but ensures best quality materials to our customers and
is exclusive to our plant.

Furthermore, our Steel Making Furnaces boasts of Vacuum Degassing and Ladle Refining Furnaces to
remove impurities such as Sulphur and Phosphorous, which enables us to manufacture specialised steel and
bars of specified chemistry such as CRS Bars, etc.

We have installed the Thermex Water Quenching Technology from HSE GmbH, Germany, which ensures
strength in TMT Bars and is widely accepted by Civil Contractors and Engineers. We have also installed the
latest Testing Equipments in our laboratory such as the XRF, Spectrometer, Leeco and UTS Machines to
ensure top quality controls.

Expanding Frontiers
Always on the move to achieve the goal that we have set before ourselves, and in our quest to create more
values for all our stakeholders, our Group has set forth on a number of expansion programmes across most
of its units. Such programmes are not only intended to increase the existing capacities, but also to increase
productivity and add new facilities and product lines to achieve better economies in production.

We have lined up a 5 million tonne Integrated Steel Plant, 3 million tonne Cement Plant and Power Plant
of 1215 MW capacity at Purulia, West Bengal, at a cost of Rs 16000 crores.
