roll the first pad back onto the next pad. Drive the loader
to the track (Item 1) [Figure 6]. Figure 9

Tie a rope (or chain) around the center of the first pad
and pull the rope over the top of the wheels.

Figure 7

The rope (or chain) will carry the track from the front tire
to the rear tire as the loader is driven backwards [Figure

Tuck the loose end of the rope (or chain) under the rear
wheel [Figure 7].

Stop the loader when the two ends of the track are
positioned between the wheels [Figure 11]. Pull the end of the strap into the ratchet [Figure 13].

Remove the rope (or chain). Be sure there are no twists in the strap. Tighten the strap
with the ratchet to remove the slack.

Drive the loader backward and forward until the majority

of the slack is removed. Do not drive too far or damage
may result to the strap and ratchet.

Using a straight edge (Item 1) [Figure 18] on top of the
track to check the slack. Figure 21
DO NOT INSTALL BOLTS
The proper track tension is achieved when there is IN THESE LOCATIONS
approximately 25 - 76 mm (1.0 - 3.0 in) slack between the
bottom of the straight edge and the top of the track
[Figure 18].

Figure 19
Short Position Shown

P-62782

1 1 It is NOT recommended to install the bolts in the “Double

Short” position, as shown (Item 1) [Figure 21].

P-62770

NOTE: The links can be positioned for two (2) lengths

when adjusting the track. Short and long
position.

Install the bolts and nuts in the holes for the short position
(Item 1) [Figure 19] as shown.

Repeat the bolt locations in as many links as needed to

achieve the correct tension in the track.

ADJUSTING TRACK TENSION (CONT'D)

Figure 22

P-62780

Check the distance between the straight edge and the

track [Figure 22]. Adjust the links as needed to achieve
the correct distance.

NOTE: If the track is adjusted too tightly or loosely,

damage can result to the tracks or the loader.

Check that the nuts are tightened to 122 N•m (90 ft-lb)
torque.

Testing The Track

Slowly drive the loader forward and backward to ensure

the track does not contact any part of the loader. Make
the necessary adjustments as needed.

Test the loader until it can be operated at full capacity

without track interference.
