The inter-correlations between vocabulary comprehension and reading competency were analyzed by an
English teacher in SMA 1 Singaraja. The hypothesis was the intercorrelated between vocabulary
comprehension and reading competency. After the research done, the results are shown as following.
The above data show the mean of vocabulary mastery in the text is 81.50 or it is categorized as good.
While the reading competency mean is 71.50 or classified as medium. The obtained data were analyzed to
examine the relationship between both variables. The analysis test used correlation Pearson Product
Moment by using computer program SPSSX Version 24. The data analysis are shown as follows.

The above table shows the intercorrelation between vocabulary mastery and reading competency
is positive that is1.00. It means that there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and
reading competency. In other word, the more understanding the meaning of words, the better
understand the contents of the reading. When reading, word meaning should be also discussed
well.
