Sketching
Exterior Tangents to Two Circles

O O’
Exterior Tangents to Two Circles
INSTRUCTION :
1. Draw a line of 60 mm (see the previous slide)
2. At Point O, draw a circle with radius of 15 mm
3. At point O’ draw a circle with radius of 25 mm
4. At point O’ draw an arc with radius of 10 mm (difference of the two radii of circles)
5. Bisecting line OO’
6. Label the middle point of line OO’ as point Q
7. With Q as the center, draw an arc with QO’ as the radius intersect the arc inside O’
circle
8. Label the intersect point as point P
9. Connect point P and point O
10.Extend O’P further to meet the circumference of the larger circle at A
11.Draw a parallel to OP and passing through A

O O’
Interior Tangents to Two Circles
INSTRUCTION :
1. Draw a line of 60 mm (see the previous slide)
2. At Point O, draw a circle with radius of 15 mm
3. At point O’ draw a circle with radius of 25 mm
4. At point O’ draw an arc with radius of 40 mm (sum of the two radii of circles)
5. Bisecting line OO’
6. Label the middle point of line OO’ as point Q
7. With Q as the center, draw an arc with QO’ as the radius intersect the arc outside O’
circle
8. Label the intersect point as point A
9. Connect point A and point O
10.Connect point A and point O’
11.Label the intersect point of line AO’ and the circumference of larger circle as point B
12.Draw a line parallel to OA and passing through point B

Inscribe a Circle in a Triangle
Inscribe a Circle in a Triangle

INSTRUCTION :
1. Bisect/divide any one of the three corner angles.
2. Bisect/divide another corner angle. It can be any one of the remaining
two.
3. By extending the divider line of two angles, we found the intersection
point. Label it as point O. This point will be used as the center of the
inscribing circle.
4. From the intersection point, drop a perpendicular line on any of the
sides of the triangle.
5. The shortest distance from the intersection point O to any side of the
triangle is the radius of the inscribed circle.
Circumscribe a Circle in a Triangle
Circumscribe a Circle in a Triangle

INSTRUCTION :
1. Draw perpendicular bisectors of any two sides of this triangle.
2. The intersection point of these two perpendicular bisectors will be the
center of the circumscribed circle.
3. Label the center as point O
4. Distance from point O to any of the corners of the triangle is the radius.
Draw the circumscribe circle.
General method of
constructing polygon

By using this method draw quadrilateral (4 sides), pentagon (5 sides),
Hexagon (6 sides), Heptagon (7 sides), Octagon (8 sides), and Nanogon
(9 sides)
