SHAVING AND TANNING PRIOR TO SATURDAY COMPETITION

Thursday:
(1) No more tanning in a sun bed.
(2) First thing in the morning, shave your body completely for last time. Your face can be
shaved on Friday night.
(3) Stop moisturizing your skin since most water-based tanning products do not get absorbed
well with oily creams coating the skin.
    (3) Late afternoon/early evening take a shower (with soap) and then apply coats of Pro Tan
Instant Competition Color.  My technique is to pour the Pro Tan into a glass; then use the
brush it comes with to paint on the color. Note: Don't over-saturate the brush or it will run all
over the place.  Definitely do NOT spray the Pro Tan onto your body with the "pump" it comes
with. Apply as many coats of Pro Tan as your body will hold. In between each coat, wait 10-15
minutes to allow the coat to dry and set. You may want to use a hair dryer to really bake the
color into your skin. Personally, I always stood in front of a fan. Please be patient as this
process may take several hours By the end of the tanning session, you should come close to
applying an entire 8.5oz bottle of Pro Tan.

Friday:
(1) Shower Friday morning when you awaken, then shower again late Friday afternoon prior
to applying your 2nd day’s coats of Pro Tan. Note: The drier your skin, the better the Pro
Tan will get absorbed by the skin.
(2) Just like Thursday night, apply as many coats of Pro Tan as your body will hold (usually
another 8.5oz bottle). Remember, you can never be too dark onstage.

Saturday:
    (1) Upon waking, do not shower.
(3) Apply a coat of
JAN TANA Hi-Definition Color: It goes on easy with a sponge.

Note: Jan Tana seals in the Pro Tan and it can make your muscles look a little “dull”.
Once the posing lubricants are applied, muscle definition will “wake up” and look great.

(4) Use either Pro Tan Muscle Sheen (it has the consistency of Vaseline) as your oil prior to
going onstage. While the old posing oils of yesteryear still work fine, I prefer the new
“thicker” consistency glazes and gels.
Note: Never use baby oil with Jan Tana products since the petroleum in it will cause the
Jan Tana Competition Color to run.
