Good Evening everyone, for those of you who don’t know me, my name is John Erick B.

Ramos and I am
a 2nd year BSCE student at Saint Louis University. Everyone in this room is well aware that as a student,
we mustn’t give up on pursuing on our dreams of becoming successful in our own paths in life.

My parents used to tell me always this, to strive and persevere to any difficulties and challenges faced in
our journey’s since they had also lived up to this idea enthusiastically and fruitfully. This belief casts and
illuminates the importance of education in the society we belong and our contributions to the world
from our actions, the students, in the near future.

But before I talk about my chosen program, I would like to speak about the university itself, Saint Louis
University for my personal interactions inside the campus grounds really never fails to give off the
vibrant and tranquil environment every time I enter the university. The university is also the “light of the
north” since it correlates to the “northern lights” which is one of the brightest and most wonderful
phenomena of nature. Wherein, Saint Louis University aims to make its light shine as the “light of the
north” by being the bastion of intellectual leadership and dedication and to constantly seek and open up
new horizons of knowledge.

Regarding about my program, Civil Engineering, let me state our program’s core description in Saint
Louis University which can build strong foundation that in turn can help fortify our mission in the world.

“With wood, stone, brick, concrete and steel we shape the world around us. By our design mountains
rise and fall, rivers run freely or not at all, land is taken from the sea or given to it. We are the masters of
all that we walk on; we command the earth, and it obeys our will.

With our hands horizons change. What was once impassable is now bridged; what was once unforgiving
now links cities together. Underground, underwater and through rock tunnels are bored; toward the sky
towers rise. For man's needs in the world around him is ours to define.
Beyond all the awe-inspiring skyscrapers, bridges, highways, and homes, one can find the true meaning
behind all our efforts; the grandeur and complexity of the structures our ancient colleagues created bear
witness to this truth: We build to uplift the human spirit.”

The riveting description of our university only tells that we are all capable in such enormous changes.
With the knowledge and skill passed down generations to generations by the alumni’s and the
professors, we can hone our skills

location itself gives off a vibe that helps
