What does it mean to be a citizen of the world?

First and foremost, Hugh Evans delivered an excellent speech. It is a wake-up call to
realize that many global citizens are working to eliminate global problems in the globe. It is
essential not only to us students, but also to the entire public. He presented us an explanation of
what it meant to be a global citizen.
What does it mean to be a citizen of the world? Hugh Evans defined a global citizen as
“someone who self-identifies first and foremost not as members of a state, nation or tribe but as
members of the human race, and someone who is prepared to act on that belief to tackle our
world’s greatest challenges”. Hugh Evans' notion of a global citizen is one that I agree with.
While it might imply different things to different individuals, the most popular definition of a
world citizen is the belief that everyone has duties to the globe outside their nation and
immediate neighbourhood. I also agree with him when he says that "our future depends on global
citizens," which is unquestionably true. They are the ones who take action, combating all global
concerns such as poverty, climate change, and gender inequality. To be considered a global
citizen, we must be good citizens not for our personal advantage, but to ensure the peace of our
community. Take, for example, Davinia, who is one of the many global citizens cited by Evans
as an example. She was preoccupied with other people's lives rather than her own. She is a global
citizen who has asked all of her Facebook friends for pennies in order to generate funding for
girls' education. As a result, she enrolled more than 120 girls in school. She desires to make a
good contribution to communities and the world at large in order to enhance the lives of people.
Hugh Evans shows how we can address global concerns such as poverty and why our
future is dependent on global citizens. He encouraged me and kept me thinking about what I can
accomplish right now and how I may one day be a great global citizen. Global citizens have the
ability to interact with others and urge leaders to take action and address issues such as climate
change, poverty, and others. He presented a positive view of our future. As a student, I will first
complete my degree and then look for any group that wants to grow our country and create a
global community.
We may still change our future by becoming global citizens and collaborating with
people who share our goals. Fight alongside others so that we can face and overcome all of the
world's issues.
