Subject : Business Plan Submission on “SKYVIO” a UAV startup project.

Dear Ma’am,

It is our pleasure to inform you that we have completed the business plan that you had assigned us for the
course BUS 201. We have tried our best to include most of the knowledge that we have acquired from
this course. For the business plan, we have chosen to bring an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) i.e More
efficient working Drones. We have introduced objectives, new features and more efficient ways for our
business plan.

In writing this report, we have followed the instructions you have given us in class and we have also
applied relevant concepts that we have learned throughout this course. We have challenged our core
capability, strategies in different levels, marketing plans and financial calculations. It was surely an
extremely challenging and interesting experience. We have tried our best to come up with ideas on our
own, although we have had some help from different sources to facilitate our reports.

Lastly, we would be glad to express our gratitude for your thoughts and kind considerations in and outside
of the class.

Yours sincerely,

Recently over the years, the rising trend of drone innovation has created many opportunities in different
industry sectors from agriculture to parcel delivery.
There are multiple commercial applications, some of which go beyond basic surveillance, photography,
or videos which can be used to generate a new global drone market.

The objective of SKYVIO is to develop multiple advanced commercial UAVs which can adapt to specific
environments according to customer needs. Our project will focus on Surveillance, photography, farming,
wildlife inspection and delivery industries.

Challenges to this business would include - Due to safety measures and policies, many countries’
government discourage drone start-ups and using of drones as such companies may poses threat to
national security .

Drones have limited flight endurance and payload capacity. Till now a drone flies a 1hr 5 min’s in one
run and can carry a payload of about 25 pounds.

One of the examples of working field of UAV -3D mapping and wildlife surveying – UAVs will measure
Distance, Area and Volume, Explore Interactive Maps, Smart Auto Exposure Adjustments, Flock
Counting, Camera Image Retrieval, Species Identification. Security and Surveillance and Goods delivery
service.

Considering new market opportunities - Reduction of production costs of unmanned aerial vehicles
(UAVs), sensors and actuators, along with the recent technological improvements, made UAVs easily
accessible for industrial and private purposes. The UAV market was valued at USD 18.14 Billion in 2017
and is projected to reach USD

52.30 Billion by 2025, at a CAGR of 14.15% from 2018 to 2025.

The Industry's largest representatives such as Amazon, DHL and Google have already tested and used
UAVs for different civilian purposes such as agriculture, aerial photography, geodesy, law enforcement,
advertising and, more recently, in building safety and package and food delivery. Recently the market for
commercial drones is growing faster than anticipated, and could triple between now and 2023.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

● Project plan-To Broaden the working field of UAVs

● To manufacture multiple different types of UAVs for enhanced performance in a particular

field.

● Generate new markets and new opportunities for the UAV industry.

● Acquire assets and attract Big Corporation and Investors.

● Get in touch with Accelerators to do SWOT Analysis.

● Hire talent pools from specialized fields.

● Risk Assessment.

● Estimate project budget and timeline.

SWOT Analysis-
9

Challenge-

1. Due to safety measure and policies, many countries government discourage

drone start-ups and using of drones as such may poses threat to national security.
2. Large companies do not change the way they handle tasks without studying,
testing, and planning. While drones may be the superior solution, the old way of
doing things has stood the test of time.
3. Drones have limited flight endurance and payload capacity. Till now a drone fly
a 45 min’s is one run and carry a payload of about 2.5 pounds.
4. No ground infrastructure and services. No battery charging or swapping
standards.
5. Increased use of UAVs in urban settings will increase the risks of accidents
which are likely to result in the loss of human life or material damage
6. 40% of the buyers are military and civil aviation related and rest of the buyers
are Photographers and Cinematographers

Solutions-

1. Work in collaboration and share valuable information with the

government in order to gain approval and improve the country’s
infrastructure /build the project in a country who influences drone start-ups
such as USA, SWEDEN, FRANCE and CHINA.
2. Give time to gain trust and adapt to the new technology.
3. Invest more in the R&D department to optimize UAVs capability that is to
further develop flight endurance and payload capacity.
4. Additional navigation, surveillance and communication services could be
integrated as well.
5. Implement conflict detection and resolution algorithm based on locations
obtained via transponders. UAVs equipped with transponders combined with
surveillance network to detect unlawful operators to avoid hazard of incidents.
6. Increase commercialization to reduce the cost of drones and attract more
buyers from private sectors.

precision crop monitoring, unmanned cargo transport, law enforcement and border control surveillance,
storm tracking and forecasting hurricanes and tornadoes etc.

 Legal : Drone are permitted in Bangladesh, but you have to obtain permission from the air
Traffic control authority before your maneuvers. There is a maximum flight altitude – drones are
not allowed to fly higher than 60 meters in Bangladesh. Drones can only be operated in sight in
Bangladesh. The use of FPV systems must be allowed separately. In Bangladesh there is
compulsory insurance for drones. You have to keep a distance of 18.5 kilometers to airports, or
you must obtain an authorization from the air traffic control authorities. 9km of distance must be
maintained to the built-up area. You have to keep 300 meters away from buildings, vehicles,
people and ships as long as they are not directly involved in the flight maneuver. You are not
16

allowed to fly with a drone over gatherings of people in Bangladesh. Commercial flight
maneuvers must be approved as well as private flights.

progressive improvement. So, this is how the product OASIS drone will fit in this industry as the
technological potential with drones is immense and its uses will only grow with time

MARKETING PLANS

Pricing Strategy - When first starting out, you may customize your pricing to meet the needs and budget
of each client individually. With this approach, every client relationship is different from the last. Your
pricing and packaging model may always be changing, but the sooner you can commit to something
standardized, the easier it'll be to communicate that to prospective clients. For example –

1. We can select our pricing to penetrate market. We can do that by selling our Drone at a lower cost
than the competitors in the market and by this way we can make our brand known to the
customers.
2. We can also keep some models of Drone for premium pricing. These will have the most advanced
options. We will broadcast this set of product in a way that no one can compete to it due to its
uniqueness.
3. We can also use bundle pricing strategy. In this strategy if a buyer buys increased number of
Drones then he/she can get a good deal that he/she won’t get by buying the products separately.
4. Promotion pricing can be used during the startup of the business. We can give promotion on the
Drones so that people get attracted to buy our drones. We will do this kind of promotional pricing
strategy for catching the place in the market.

Promoting & Distributing Strategy - We often think of advertising as taking the form of literal
advertisements promoted Facebook posts, Google ads, the stuff they make you watch in movie theaters
before the main event, etc. But advertising can be the word-of-mouth information people spread about
your business, or reviews of your products on prominent websites, or YouTube blogs people make about
you. You’ll notice that most of these examples involved the Internet in some way, which is why the first
step of any drone advertising campaign has to be building a website. By this way promotion of the
product can be done. Many big companies use this kind of promotional strategy. Distribution of the
18

products can be done through both retail and wholesale by a selected store or through a fixed business
platform.

We can do promotion of our Drones by going to some technological fair, or tech. market. We can
participate in different drone competition and different Drone photography competition. We can promote
our product by giving brochures to different educational institution because young generation are much
more interested in this kind of new tech. We can do advertising of our product in different social media
platform as it’s an era of social media.

Our distribution of drone can be made different ways. We can use the online delivery platform or courier
service for home delivery. We can also deliver our products from our store as well.

Operation Plan - An Operational Plan is a highly detailed plan that provides a clear

picture of how a team, section or department will contribute to the achievement of an organizational
goals.

At first a factory has to be set for production. Where all types of proper facilities for producing the
product is available. Facilities include suitable working environment, flexibility of movement, well
learned production manager and many more.
After factory facilities the Customer care service comes up at first. Customer is the main priority for a
good business. If the customers are satisfied by the service provided by the company then the selling of
product increases as well. So proper customer handling employees must be assigned.

The selection of raw materials has to be done precisely, because the production cost and the product cost
depends on that. Good quality raw materials should be collected by investing right amount of money and
man power. If there is any kind of mixing of required raw materials with inappropriate ones then the
production is hampered vigorously.

Machineries are also an important part for production. There are various kinds of machineries but the
perfect and most efficient one has to be selected. Perfect machineries for production has to be set up so
that production can be done using less man power. Engineers for maintaining the machines has to be
hired.
Research and development (R&D) includes activities that companies undertake to innovate and introduce
new products and services. It is often the first stage in the development process.
19

R&D represents the activities companies undertake to innovate and introduce new products and services
or to improve their existing offerings.

R&D allows a company to stay ahead of its competition.

One R&D model is_ a department staffed primarily by engineers who develop new products that typically
involves extensive research.

The second model_ involves a department composed of industrial scientists or researchers, all of who are
tasked with applied research in technical, scientific, or industrial fields. This model facilitates the
development of future products or the improvement of current products or operating procedures.
