Top 3 Tools Used in this Project

1. Tool name used in this project. Explanation of parts of tool. What did you learn about how to use the tool
safely? What kind of jobs is this tool good for?

I used a mallet, I learned that the mallet can fall out of your hands easily so make sure you use gloves that
have grip on them. This tool was good for hitting the pipes into the socket.

2.Tool name used in this project. Explanation of parts of tool. What did you learn about how to use the tool
safely? What kind of jobs is this tool good for?

I also used a jigsaw, a jig saw had to different saw you could put onto it one was a bit rougher and one was
longer. The saw was electric and it used a very swift movement of the saw to cut. The saw did not work
well for PVC since it was more for wood and PVC was to easy to cut into.

2. Tool name used in this project. Explanation of parts of tool. What did you learn about how to use the tool
safely? What kind of jobs is this tool good for?

I also used a handsaw, I used a hand saw since it glided easy threw the PVC since you were in charge of
the cutting unlike the jigsaw. The hand saw was very sharp and I learned you should wash it when done
and put it back into a cover.
Top 3 Materials Used
1. Materials name used in this project. TECHNICAL description of the PROPERTIES of this material (for
example, is the material rigid, ductile, flexible, light, strong, etc)? What PRACTICAL considerations made
this a good material for this project (for example: price, availability, familiarity etc)?

The most time consuming and used material was PVC because PVC does not rot making it something that
lasts a while. The PVC was also a good material since it could hold together well in rough conditions.

2. Materials name used in this project.

Another material I used a lot was zip ties. Zip ties work great since it added a bit extra support keeping the
whole structure together. Zip Ties do get old but not until a while.

2. Materials name used in this project.

I also used 2 kinds of netting or cloths. One netting was a shade cloth this works great since it blocks most
UV rays before hitting the plants. The shade cloth is very thin so it doesn't keep the plants cool since there is
less air flow so, I used plastic netting for the sides since it is a good material for keeping animals out and
helping airflow still.
3 Terms of Specialized Vocabulary
1. Special Terminology or Vocabulary used in this project. Explanation of what the vocabulary means
in regards to your project.

One word was Architecture that means creating or designing buildings. In my project require a lot
of measuring and finding how this structure will fit in with surroundings.

2. Special Terminology or Vocabulary used in this project. Explanation of what the vocabulary means
in regards to your project.

Another work was tweak, that means improve something by working with it. In this project it
required a lot of messed up factors like pipes not fitting and you just had to tweak it.

3. Special Terminology or Vocabulary used in this project. Explanation of what the vocabulary means
in regards to your project.

Another word was reciprocating which was used to describe the movement of the jigsaw, forward
and backwards.
How does your work represent development of a 21st Century skill?
Minimum 4 complete sentences. See 21st century skills list

This project showed a few 21st century skills a few are communication skills since how are you going to
get your project done if you don’t just explain what you need and explain to other people how the project
is working out and what you might need for it. In this project I needed PVC pipes a certain size so I
made sure, that they were available by talking and asking before I picked that project. Another 21st
century skill I especially used was thinking and problem solving since there were so many hiccups that
were a major set back that you had to deal with. A problem I had while building was that zip ties were
too shark when you cut them and had a possibility of snagging the net. I solved that by making sure cuts
are flat and they were pointed towards the inside.
Explain how this project demonstrates your current growth?
This project shows my current growth by finding reason for the project since this project
was just for a grade it was for that my plants were not doing that well due to the sun being
to strong so, this shade house will most likely help it.

How did this project challenge you?

This project challenged me since it was complicated in many ways, one was planning
since the project found on instructables just did not work as well so you had to change
something about it and once you change something it kind of throws you off by changing
the whole structure.

How does this project showcase your interests?

Yes, it showed my interests in creating or architecture and gardening.

How does this project showcase your abilities?

This project show my ability to persevere by challenging me.
Describe at least TWO areas of opportunity for new growth?
One area for new growth is time management since I needed to know that this project
wasn't going to be a piece of cake and it doesn't hurt to be ahead. Another is making sure
that something is done right because you don't want to do do something wrong that make
you have to redo something like cut a hole in netting that realizing its to large for the door
and having to get new netting to replace it.

What would you improve if you had more time to work on this project?
In the future I plan on building a self watering system since there are already ergation set
up and all I need to do is change a bit of water settings and add a extra flexible tubing.

What could you do better next time?

Next time I would making sure to not spend too much time on the little things that aren't as
important as something else.
You selected this progress based on it being Interesting, Doable and Safe.
What did you learn about the relationship between motivation and having a choice of working on
something Interesting to you?
I learned that if something is interesting to you, do it to see if it is something you are into. When you
are interested it does not mean you might like actually doing it since maybe it's the product and not the
steps.

What did you learn about ‘Doability’ in terms of scheduling a timeline, access to tools and material,
help with difficult parts?
I learned that if something is doable you can't just say it because it's cool you actually got to take a
second in reality and think of the process of doing the project and think about it before you get started.

What did you do to keep the work and work space Safe?
For the work space I used tools once or twice than put them away right after life I never even used
them. I also made sure that everyone knew what was being used or worked on.
