As written by Emilio Jacinto in 1896, the “Kartilya ng Katipunan” serves as the organization’s guide for

setting a single goal towards brotherhood and a good fellowmen. For me, these are like ethical virtues
that shows the path to be a good follower and wholeheartedly patriotic in words, act, and duties. These
principles, consisting of 14, depict the moral, life-long values not only be committed to their family, but
also to their brothers and sisters, to the organization (KKK), and to the country as a sign of becoming
virtuous individuals. In our history, the Filipino katipuneros fought the hardest battles againt Spaniards
and its wicked regimen, and thus they have to protect the country in order to regain independence. As I
deeply comprehend the content of the video, “Kartilya ng Katipunan” becomes their code of conduct
which will make them become a good citizens and not the other way around. It is important to the
Katipuneros that these principles will uphold what specific values matters most. Treating others equally,
despite of color and beliefs, is also emphasized in the document. Lastly, the unity of hearts of every
Filipinos signifies strong foundation for disintegrating the evil and save the native lands. These words
will live today as it creates steady foundation for us to become an indestructible society and truly
defines our compassion and respect to what is right for the future.
