What is the underlying problem in this case from the fast-food industry's perceptive?

1. The underlying problem for the fast-food industry’s is that they are providing unbearable

work environments with low paying wages without providing much incentives for the youth that

are working these jobs. There is also little opportunity for advancement within the companies.

Since they are not doing much to change things this is causing a high turnover within the

industry.

2. There are several things causing these problems. One being that these jobs are designed with

are unlikely to stay with the company for a long period of time. Without having a opportunity

Another cause of the problem is that the working conditions are often repetitive which can lead

to long boring days for the workers. Since the fast food companies are paying their employees

minimum wage and even making them work part time so they can avoid paying them benefits

this makes their workers feel like they aren’t worth much to the company which leads them

unmotivated to want to excel at their jobs.

3. The biggest recommendation that I would make would be to set up a incentive program so

that these teens and young adults can move up within the company based on there

performance. I would give the employees a reason to stay motivated. I would make the

managers notice who is providing good work for the company so they can move up within the

company someday and earn high wages. If an employee is showing that they can about the

company when they are a front-line worker than they will benefit the company in the long run.

The managers will need to notice this talent and give praise to the employees for their hard

work. Having a better incentive system in place will let the front-line employees know that they

matter and provide them with a reason to work harder so they can move up in the company

and earn a high pay wage.

4. Sine the expectancy theory is the motivation that involves the relationship between your

performance. The expectancy theory can alleviate problems to high turnover by providing

praise for the employee’s effort so that the employee will know that they are meeting

expectations. This will bring the performance up within the organization and you can give

employees better incentives for the overall outcome within the company. Having a chance to
