Reflection
Throughout my senior project, I spent a total of about 22.5 hours shadowing, doing research,

creating my final product. Majority of my hours were spent shadowing where I had to complete 20

hours. The second thing I spent about 4 hours on was creating my final product. During my final product,

I spent around 5 hours doing research, creating the outline of the website, and putting information on

the website. Next, I spent around 4 hours of writing and researching for my research paper. Some

challenges that I encountered throughout my project was figuring out what to do for a product. I

wanted to do something along the lines of measuring yield since that was what my research paper was

about. However, the equipment was a little bit out of my price range. So, I thought of maybe putting

together a manual on how to change a fuel injection pump in a JD 4440 tractor was pretty decent idea. I

found out that it would difficult to find a time to shadow. Most days that worked for me, didn’t work for

him. So, we were able to collaborate on some days he knew he would be around.

For this project, I managed my time by knowing when all the deadlines were for each step of the

project. The most difficult deadline to meet was shadowing and the senior product. With these two,

however, I knew that I had to crack down and make sure that everything was on time. Also, I knew that

if I didn’t meet these deadlines, I would be behind on the project and must catch up. If I was prepared

everything would work out just the way it should have.

This experience, I learned a lot. I learned that it takes a lot of hard work to become a diesel tech.

Some clients can be difficult to handle, however, it is the way we approach the situation that will help us
have a better outcome. Although Diesel Tech isn’t something I’m sure I want to pursue in my life, it was

a very it’s a potential field for me to experience. When I am approaching the workforce, I will now know

that I need to approach it with a positive and determined attitude. Ultimately, I believe that these two

qualities will help me to be great at what I do. I am feeling very confident about my presentation. I think

that if I talk slowly and make sure that I am going into detail about my project experience, I will present

a great presentation. I don’t think I would do anything different because I feel as if I know my field very

well.

Knowing a lot about my field allows me to be able to present my presentation off knowledge

rather than by reading off my computer. I think that my panel members will appreciate my product

because it is something that not very many people know how to do it. I believe that after they visit my

product they will enjoy the work I have done and learned a lot about the importance of keeping your

equipment up and running. Ultimately, I learned so much during this time and I am very glad that I was

given this opportunity
