ASSESSMENT No. 3

Translating a Competency Standard into a Competency-Based Curriculum

Direction: Based on the diagram given below, explain the process of translating a competency standard
into a competency-based curriculum comprehensively.

VISION
A leading university in the Philippines recognized for its proactive contribution to Sustainable
Development through equitable and inclusive programs and services by 2030.
MISSION
To develop competitive graduates and empowered community members by providing relevant innovative and transformative knowledge, research, extension and production
programs and services through progressive enhancement of its human resource capabilities and institutional mechanisms.
Answer:

As you can see, the competency standards are composed of different units of competency.
Inside each unit of competency are elements which describe the work done in a particular unit. The
developer of the curriculum will now analyze this unit and convert it into modules of instruction.
This module of instruction describes the training to be done to learn a particular unit of competency.
Then it will be compiled to form one course design summarizing all the content of every module.
