The major suggestions of the study are listed below:

 The bank may reduce bank charges over plastic money transaction to increase the

number of card holders.

 Subsidy and gift on electronic transactions can also lead to increase in usage of

plastic money.

 The customers give more importance to safety of their card transaction. Therefore,

the banks should protect the interest of the plastic money users by providing all

necessary steps, like photo card, biological imprint and other ways.

 Banks should satisfy the expectations of card holders.Regardingthe terms and

conditions of the cards, bank should maintain good help desk support.

 The banks should take necessary steps to display the terms and conditions of the

usage of plastic money in the local language to the customers.

 The use of plastic cards has also been increased because banking industries has

provided the 24x7 customer service for their customers. But many of the ATM

76
centres are not functioning. The banks should properly maintain all the ATM

centres at regular interval to avoid inconvenience caused by improper functioning.

 Customers could not utilise their cards effectively due to its complex nature and

they don’t actually know how to operate it. Thus, the banks should give them

some training regarding the usage of cards.

4.4 Conclusion

The arrival of malls, shopping complex and online shopping stores encourage

the customers to make use of plastic money. Now a day, Indian customers find it

easier to make card payments rather than physical payments. But some customers are

not able to utilise plastic money effectively due to its complex nature and they don’t

actually known how to operate it for a specific purpose. Thus, the banks should give

them training regarding its usage. The interest levied on the outstanding amount is

very high which sometimes take the customers in debt trap ultimately discouraging

the potential customers to make use of it.However the positive influencing trends are

expected to continue in the near and far future. The growth of plastic cards in future

would depend upon the profitable opportunities. However, the kind of technology

used and the efficiency of operations would provide the much needed competitive

edge for success in plastic money.
