Chapter 1: Executive Summary

A. Introduction

Do you have any precautionary devices like locks, cameras or an alarm to protect your

houses? Do you feel secured anytime? Nowadays, it is important to have these but it will cost a

lot if you buy in the market. So, this is the story of a guy named Ryeland. He is only 13 years old

when his parents died because of a car accident. His grandmother adopt and treat him like her

own child. Since all back then, he didn’t ask any support and grew up as kind, independent, and

hardworking teenager. He works as a waiter in the evening and looked for another part time job

just to support his own studies. He studied Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in

Polytechnic University of the Philippines. And because of his determination he graduated as a

Cum Laude of their batch. He immediately got hired in an Electronic Company. But in a short

period of time, the owner died and it became bankrupt. Instead of looking for another job, he

think of another way to survive. He started to try his luck on buying materials for an alarm

system. After many tries and rejections, he finally made it and looked for a person who could

finance his alarm system. He called it Z-Diode, a photodiode based alarm that can be used to

give a warning sign when someone passes through your protected area. After 4 years, he has now

his own company.

B. Company Name

PHOtected Corporation

Nature of Business

The PHOtected Corporation provides security alarm systems. Where the alarm

circuit will be installed in your house weakness points (such as windows and doors) for

protection and security.

E. Feasibility Criteria

Market Aspect

This will determine if the product will make a big impact in introducing a brand-

new product. If this product will be successful in the market it will determine the factors

that has to be changed, such as price, quality and marketing strategies and factors that

might affect the product such as competitors, threats and the supply and demand of the

product.. It will help us know if we should pursue this business.

Technical Aspect

The main component that is needed to create the Photodiode Based Alarm System

are photodiodes and Infrared LED. These are the components that will serve as the

sensors of the Alarm System. Buzzers will be used to signal that the alarm has been set

off, this can be easily bought in electronics shop. The lightbulb will be used to signal as

well, this will indicate that the alarm system has been set off. This can be bought in

electronics shop too.

Management Aspect

In order to achieve the company’s objective, mission, and vision the roles should

be clear to help us know who is responsible for what in the company. This can help

initial capital needed is P100,000 which will be financed with the owner’s fund. The

financial aspect of the company shows a strong standing and performance.

F. Limitations of the Project

off when there’s a movement in the area that covers it. Everyone will pass through the sensor

will consider as intruders once the system is activated.

CHAPTER II – MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

CHAPTER III – MARKET INFORMATION

A. Industry Background

The Photodiode was originally used in converting sunlight to electricity. But in this

project it will be used as a sensor that will kept on standby and when the beam path breaks the

alarm will be activated. So, basically it was came from a simple project where there is only one

photodiode in parallel to the IR LED and once the invisible laser light breaks the alarm will be

triggered. But of course as part of our Work Immersion, we need to develop or innovate a new

product. Then, we came up to this kind of idea, we will make an IR-based alarm circuit where

there will be 3 pairs of photodiode in parallel to the IR light and have a separate resistor. So that

it will become impossible for an intruder/burglar to pass through your protected area. We also

install a timer so that you can set the alarm that will last within 5-30 seconds and changing the

light from white to red to become more visible for the homeowners. This capstone project will be

a great help to the homeowners to keep them feel secured and protected all the time as well as

the community to lessen the theft-related incidents.

D. Marketing Program

1. Facebook Page

Social media sites is one of the most powerful platform to connect with other people

through the use of internet. In fact, millions of people searching the internet everyday, looking

for products and services because it is more convinient rather than purchasing products in a real

store like malls. For a company that just starting their business it can be a great help because of

some reasons. First, you can have it on a low cost and without spending money on renting a

place where you can sell your product. Second, it can reach a lot of customer both locally and

internally. Third, you can manage your time very efficient while you are in house doing other the

chores.
2. Print Media (Tarpaulin)

Traditional type of advertising is one of the simplest but an effective way of marketing

and advertising the product. These tarpaulins comes in various price and sizes which is cheaper

rather than TV advertising or billboards. It only needs a good choice of location where it can

catch attention for a wide range of audience. Because some areas don’t have access to the

internet and too far from the town. Last, it’s flexibility because it can last for a months and even

years.
3. Discounts

Discounts are a great deal for customers that are in a process of deciding to buy the

product. It will also create a good and positive impressions.
