Executive Summary

This report is about the recruitment and selection process of Mintex Fashion Ltd. How they
recruit employee and select them? In this report we attached the important thing that Mintex
Fashion Ltd is using for their recruitment process. Mintex Fashion Ltd. is a sister concern of
Minar Group. Mintex Fashion Ltd. started manufacturing and exporting knit garments back in
the 1990s. Today, Mintex Fashion Ltd. and its subsidiary, fully composite unites on three
campus, produce 45,000 pieces knit apparels of latest quality and design everyday for the
international markets. Mintex Fashion Ltd. owns and operates vertically-integrated, large-scale
manufacturing facilities which are primarily located in Narayanganj and are strategically
positioned to efficiently service the quick replenishment needs of its customers. This
manufacturing unit runs by the certification of BS EN ISO 9001:2000 (quality management
system), OEKO-TEX standard, ACCORD & ALLIANCE, BSCI etc. Mintex Fashion Ltd.
mainly follows competency based method for recruitment. Competency based recruitment means
the right person for the job or the organization. So, Mintex Fashion Ltd. recruit right person for
their company because it’s a well known manufacturing company in the RMG sector
Bangladesh. There are two kinds of people works here, one is low level and another one is high
level. Low level is the top most priority in this trade because they operates the machine So their
conditions of eligibility are different from one another. Compensation and benefits are limited in
Mintex fashion Ltd. but more flexible in working hour. Mintex Fashion Ltd. try to pay
employees fairly and adequately for their contributions in the performance of their jobs.
Compensation and benefits are very much helpful for motivating employees. After 2006 the
company strictly follows the Bangladesh Labor law 2006 and labor law 2013 and paying the
minimum wages of BDT. 5000.00. Training is based on an established training procedure,
practiced strictly within the organization. There are 5 types of training that the organization
provides for its employees. Induction training, document draining, skill development training,
fire fighting training, safety workplace training. Mintex Fashion Ltd. is one of the top corporate
taxpayers in the industry, It employs more than 3,700 people, and exports apparels over 18
million US dollars a year now. Besides, conforming to fair and eco-friendly standards, it
contributes in terms of both wealth and welfare to the nation.

The journey began half a century ago, in 1952, when Alhaz Jarjis Hussain (1923-1996) the
founder launched our first venture, Minar Textile. And over the years, strong ethics and
commitment helped Minar Group to become the market leader.

Mintex Fashion Ltd. is a sister concern of Minar Group. Mintex Fashion Ltd. started
manufacturing and exporting knit garments back in the 1990s. Today, Mintex Fashion Ltd. and
its subsidiary, fully composite unites on three campus, produce 45,000 pieces knit apparels of
latest quality and design everyday for the international markets.

The knitting machines of Mintex Fashion Ltd. are equipped to produce all kind of fabric like
single jersey, pique, lycra single jersey, lycra 1X1 Rib 2X2 Rib with lycra, Interlock, Fleece,
Terry, Auto Stripe, Feeder Stripe, Drop needle, Thermal or waffle, Flat back Rib etc.

Mintex Fashion Ltd. is one of the top corporate taxpayers in the industry, It employs more than
3,700 people, and exports apparels over 18 million US dollars a year now. Besides, conforming

shirt Cut & Sewn T-Shirt, Knitted Night dress, Tank Top, Long Sleeve Turtle Neck Shirt, Shorts,
Underwear, Panty, Sweat shirt, Rib item, Interlock item, 100% Polyester item, P/C, CVC, Lycra

environmental practices at all of its facilities.

Method of Recruitment in Mintex Fashion Ltd.
Mintex Fashion Ltd. mainly follows competency based method for recruitment. Competency
based recruitment means the right person for the job or the organization. So, Mintex Fashion Ltd.
recruit right person for their company because it’s a well known manufacturing company in the
RMG sector Bangladesh.

Sources of Recruitment
Mintex Fashion Ltd. is using two of those sources for recruiting

1) Internal Sources 2) External Sources

Internal Sources
The Internal Sources of Recruitment means hiring people from within the organization. Or, we
can say that seeking applicants for the job positions from those who are currently employed with
the firm. There are 3 internal sources. They are given below:

Every organization has to use external sources to recruit employee. It is the process of searching
outside of the current employee pool to fill open positions in an organization. There are few
external sources which Mintex Fashion Ltd. use to recruit employee.

Selection
The Selection is the process of choosing the most suitable candidate for the vacant position in the
organization. In other words we can say that selection is the process of interviewing and
evaluating candid for the specific job and selecting an individual for employment based on
certain criteria. Selection is very important for the organization. Because of selection we can find
right employee for the organization.

Conditions of Eligibility for Recruitment In Mintex Fashion Ltd.


There are two kinds of people works here, one is low level and another one is high level. Low
level is the top most priority in this trade because they operates the machine So their conditions
of eligibility are different from one another.

Labor Level
In this level, Mintex Fashion Ltd. require for their labor to complete their study at least class five
and after that they look at their experiences which is at least 2-3 years. In garments trade there
are some department like sample department, cutting department, sewing department, finishing
department, packaging department etc. Every department do not need 2-3 years experience.
Departments like finishing, packaging doesn’t need 2-3 years experience. The company do not
support child labor. They have age limits from 18 years for the labor. On the otherhand, there are

also some labor who works in a contract basis more specific there are some group who have 4-5
members and they work per piece basis. They are called contract labor.

High level / Officer Level:
For this level, they also require some conditions. The first condition is they must complete their
BBA, MBA or higher studies for commercial manager, finance manager, accounts officer with a
experience of 3-5 years. For senior merchandiser, merchandiser, assistant merchandiser and
production manager the company wants a degree from Bsc. Textile or a degree from BGMEA or
the company only wants experience of at least 6-8 years. Second condition is an age limit on this
level is 23 to 50 years old. And the last condition but not at least they must know fluent English,
Bangla and computer proficiency. English language is very important for this trade because they
need to communicate with the foreign buyers through e-mail or telephone.

Mintex Fashion Ltd. published their job circular for their high level employees recruitment. They
published their job circular on web sites like LinkedIn and BDjobs. Job circular of the

Mainly Mintex Fashion Ltd. published their job circular for their lower level employees
recruitment. They published their job circular in front of the factory premises by hanging PVC

Compensation and Benefits


Compensation and benefits are limited in Mintex fashion Ltd. but more flexible in working hour.
Mintex Fashion Ltd. try to pay employees fairly and adequately for their contributions in the
performance of their jobs. Compensation and benefits are very much helpful for motivating
employees.

Wage and Benefit


After 2006 the company strictly follows the Bangladesh Labor law 2006 and labor law 2013 and
paying the minimum wages of BDT. 5000.00

 Working hour is limited to 8 hours and work after 8 hours will be treated as overtime.
 For overtime, a worker will get double payment of their basic
 Food allowance (Evening snacks only for overtime worker)
 Monthly full attendance bonus is BDT. 300.00 and deduct for absent per day BDT. 100
 Two Festive bonus for every employee is full basic in a year
 Medical facilities is free for every employee if any accident occur during the work

Annual leaves and holidays
 Festival holiday 10 days with full salary
 Casual leave 10 days with full salary (Only for higher level)
 Sick leave 14 days with full salary (For higher level employee)
 Sick leave 7 days with full salary (For lower level employee)

Training Opportunities for the Employees


Training is based on an established training procedure, practiced strictly within the organization.
There are 5 types of training that the organization provides for its employees.

 Induction Training: Induction training is provided to any new employee on the first
days of joining.
 Document Training: Document training are provided to new employee within 30
working days of joining.
 Skill Development Training: Skill development training is provided to enhance the skill
level of the employee. This training is based on a Training Need Assessment through the
performance management system of the organization.
 Fire Fighting Training: Fire fighting training is provided basically to the low level
worker who work in factory premises.
 Safety Workplace Training: Safety workplace training is provided to low level worker
for their during using the machine.

Performance Appraisal Practices
A “Performance appraisal” is a process of evaluating an employee’s performance of a job in term
of it’s requirements. So, we can say that performance appraisal is all about setting working
standards, assessing performance, and providing feedback to employees to motivate, correct, and
continue their performance.

Objectives of performance appraisal:


 Measuring the efficiency.
 Maintaining organizational control

Appraising policy:
Mintex Fashion Ltd. is one of the top corporate taxpayers in the industry, It employs more than
3,700 people, and exports apparels over 18 million US dollars a year now. Besides, conforming
to fair and eco-friendly standards, it contributes in terms of both wealth and welfare to the nation.
Mintex Fashion Ltd. Use Annual Confidential Report (ACR)to appraise the performance of their
employee.

Promotion:
Mintex Fashion Ltd. always try to follow this policy to encourage its employees. This policy
enhances the working capacity of staff members. The Promotion Policy is based on the working
performance of employees. Supervisors should encourage all support staff member within their
areas of responsibility.

Extra Bonus :
Mintex Fashion Ltd. always try to reward their employee’s by giving extra bonus (incentives/
benefits / facilities) who worked hard, use their extra time ,efforts and tries to help the
organization to achive it’s goal’s .

Profit sharing:
When they earn profit more then their assumption or targeted percentages, they distribute
some persenteges of their profit to their employee’s who gives their effort to achive it.

Compliance
Mintex Fashion Ltd is always very serious about different compliance issues. They always
follow Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) code of conduct.

Medical Facilities:
They have medical facilities for their workers and staffs under the prevailing labor act they have
employed a permanent consultant along with a specialized nurse. So that, their employees &
staffs can easily talk with the doctor in order to get quick recovery. They have also arranged first
aid box with necessary medicines and medical equipment.

Day Care:
There are many female workers who are working in this company but there is no day care center
for their children. Sometimes they face difficulty in their working hour.

Cafeteria/canteen:
They have a particular canteen for their higher level employees and staffs which is run by an
experienced cook. Cook always try to fulfil the demand of all staffs. Drinking fresh water facility
and rest room are also available there. They also have transport facility for their higher level
staffs.

Workers’ Facility:
 Do not give preference to any religion cast, regionalism, gender.

 Do not employ or encourages any child worker.

 Necessary safety equipment is provided to the workers on specific jobs, along with

monitoring of proper use of the equipment’s.

 Abides by the rules and regulation of the B.K.M.E.A and B.G.M.E.A .

 Zero tolerance for any maltreatment, complexity or abuse with any worker or staff by

any person.

Observation
Mintex Fashion Limited doing their recruitment and selection process almost Similar like others
company does! We tried to collect few necessary information after recruiting workers what they
do and Mintex’s internal environment.

Medical Test: Mintex fashion limited never does any medical test after recruiting workers. But
almost every other company does this before joining. For example we can talk about OXY Tex;
they have been doing since the day they started recruiting.

Internal Environment: Mintex internal environment is very good except one thing; here only
higher level workers get the dining facilities to do their lunch. Lower level workers never get this
sort of facility. But a large number company providing a very good common dining space for
both higher and lower level workers.

Secret Observation: Now a day’s many companies doing secret observation after recruiting and
selecting workers. If their performance fails to reach their expectation company refuses to hire
this particular person. But here mintex doing wonderful job. Mintex does not allow any secret
observation.

Recommendation
After analyzing recruitment and selection procedures it’s clear that Mintex fashion limited are
following good criteria for recruiting and selecting appropriate employees. But we all know
there is always a place for improvement. To stay in the long run business they need to improve
few things.

Increase facilities: Mintex Fashion Limited’s workers need few more facilities , like dining
facilities, by doing this they can save time and increase production. This will help the workers to
maintain the very smooth relationship with co –workers and higher level workers. On the other
hand workers will get a place for refreshment or can take some rest. This will help to increase
the overall production speed.

Conclusion
Mintex Fashion Ltd. is a leading supplier of quality garment product. This company also market
its product primarily in the U.S and Canada. The company also manufactures for select leading
global athletic and lifestyle consumer brand. This company recruit it’s employee from both
internal and external sources. The main principle is that Mintex Fashion Ltd. always ready to
fulfill its promise to the employees and another principles is that it follow quota system only for
retarted people like mute, crippled, dumb, lame. Mintex Fashion Ltd. motivated all types of
people for work.
