Part 1: Research (1 grade: Conocimiento y comprensión)
1. Fill out the table with some for and against arguments for animal testing that you
researched yesterday.
You can research your group’s position in more detail, but it’s important that you
understand what the opposing side is likely to say in the debate.
Give examples!!! Use specific, real life examples where animal testing has been
good/bad OR come up with theoretical situations to present to the opposing team.
The more specific you are, the stronger your argument will be.
Use this time to really research. The more you know about a subject, the easier it is
to discuss.
Animal testing should not be made illegal Animal testing should be made illegal

Part 2: Research (1 grade: Conocimiento y comprensión)
In pairs
Work with a member of your team to detail your 2 strongest arguments. Write them in the table
using as much detail as you can. Use your own words (not the same as your partner)
Imagine what the other side is going to say. What are you going to say back? Write 2 opposing
arguments and your responses using as much detail as you can.
This is true sometimes but not all the time, people now more than ever
are able to volunteer and human tissue can be used to be tested in a way
Argument 2 to replace animals
Animals are the
only way
Wednesday
Preparation: First hour
In a google meeting, meet with your whole team and share your arguments with them. By
sharing all of your information, everybody will know more about their topic and will be able to
discuss it better. You can also decide which speakers are going to speak first (but remember,
every students must participate at least twice)
Discuss what you are all going to say in your opening speeches. It is okay if there are some
similarities, but try to organise so that you’re not all saying the same thing. You will get a better
grade if your argument is unique and uses examples.
Preparation: Second hour
Opening speech (1 grade Análisis y aplicación)
Your opening speech should be between 30 seconds – 1 minute. It should contain the outline of
your argument. You might have more than 1 reason why you agree or disagree with animal
testing. To give everyone an opportunity to present a somewhat unique speech, you should only
include one argument in your opening speech.
Your speech should have:
1. Hook: an engaging opening to grab your audience’s attention
2. Point: an outline of your argument
3. Conclusion: conclude your argument.
