Activity Guide and Evaluation Rubric – Phase 1 Terminology of Language Teaching

With this activity, you are expected to achieve the following learning
outcomes:
Identify the concept of didactics of English and terminology relating to the teaching
and learning of the foreign language through analysis of theory.
The activity consists of:
Step 1: Search about the concept of Didactics of English and give your own definition
in a written paragraph, then share it on the forum.

Step 2: Check out in Learning Environment the book The Cambridge Guide to
Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (p. 1-6), the reference EFL ESL
Teaching Terminology and the Glossary for the course and explain what the following
acronyms stand for. Additionally illustrate their meanings by giving examples of each
one of them.
• L1 and L2.
• EFL and ESL.
• ESP, EST and EAP.
• CBI and CLIL.
• STT and TTT.
• FES and LES.
• CLL and CLT.

Step 3: As the initial stage of the practical work of this course, you are asked to fill
out the virtual questionnaire Formato 1: Cuestionario Pre-Práctica the link will be
given to you in the forum. In this format you are going to choose a school to start
the observation work. At the end, send the following evidence: screenshot of the

answered questionnaire, the name of the institution you chose, the name of the
principal, the city or municipality where it is located.

For the development of the activity consider that:

In the Initial Information Environment, you must: check the agenda and check the
dates for the web conferences.

In the Learning Environment, you must: read the syllabus, explore the contents of
the two units, and participate on Phase 1: Terminology of Language Teaching forum.

In the Evaluation Environment, you must: deliver a pdf document in the Phase 1:
Terminology of Language Teaching space.
Evidences of individual work:
The individual evidence to be submitted is:
1. Participate in the collaborative forum, greet your partners and share the
definition of Didactics of English.
2. Add some screenshot as evidence of filling up Formato 1.
3. Upload a pdf document with a cover page, the concept of Didactics of English,
the meaning of the given acronyms, their examples and the screenshots of
filling up Format 1 in the Evaluation Environment.

2. General Guidelines for the Development of Evidences to Submit

For Individual evidences, consider the following:

 Write a clear paragraph with the definition of Didactics of English after you
have inquire about it.
 Explain in detail the meaning of each of the given acronyms related to
teaching terminology.
 Give clear examples of each of the given acronyms related to teaching
terminology.
 Fill up Formato 1: Cuestionario Pre-Práctica and save some screenshot of it.
