VESSEL- PUBLIC LANDMARK EXISTING DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND TYPOLOGY

Studio has designed a structure that visitor could use, touch and relate to, an idea of a
new landmark that could be climbed and explored.

CONCEPT - Idea inspired from the Ancient Stepwell of India, the design sought to
evoke powerfull effect of its repeating parameter - steps, flights and landings that reach
sown to the earth.

STRUCTURE - Strong Hexagonal Structural grid composes of 153 flights and 2500
steps, the effect of climbing up and down Vessel’s staircases creates a personal rhythm
in each visitor. Rising 46 meter tall, it lifts visitors above the square and reveals views
across Hudson Square and Manhattan from 80 platform around the parameters.

Complex Architectural Framework, enlivening the structure with reflections of surround-

ing city, Vessel completes the intention for Hudson Yards to create public legacy.

- Line formation along an particular axis

- Division of line with certain number to get divided points over the curve.
- Addition of Circular curves along the division points with variable radius.
- Adding Surface to the curve geometry using loft, which interpolates the surface as per the radius of the curve.
- Taking the Hexagonal grid and using the morph it to the 3D surface to achieve the grid pattern over the surface, over the grid there are 3 variables - U Divisions, V Divisions, Shape Adjustments.
- Adding offeset to the grid curves to provide landing and using boundry surface to gain rail height variable.

EXISTING GEOMETRIC VARIATIONS

Variations among the existing geometry (circle), addition of segments to polygonal geometry can be variable to the form for changing the outcome.
