What you need:

 Balloon
 Empty Tin Can (closed at both ends)
 Glass/Plastic/Paper cup
What to do:

1. Place the tin can on top of a glass as seen in Figure 1. Figure 1

2. Place an air-filled balloon close to the can without the two

objects touching as seen in Figure 2.

3. Charge the balloon by rubbing it on your completely dry

hair for at least 1 minute as seen in Figure 3.

4. Place the charged balloon close to the can without the two
objects touching each other; then, touch the can with your

finger at the opposite end of the balloon as seen in Figure
4.

5. Remove your hand and observe how the balloon interact

with the can.

6. Answer the questions in your Science activity notebook.

a. What is the movement of the balloon when brought

near to the can after removing your hand? Figure 3
b. What do you think is the charge of the balloon after
rubbing it on your hair?
c. What happened to the arrangement of charges of the
can when the charged balloon was brought near to it?
d. What do you think is the purpose of touching the can?
e. Were you able to charge the can by touching it with
your finger? Explain how this happened.

7. Take pictures of your experiment/set-ups and send it to Figure 4

your teacher. Do not forget to put captions/descriptions in
it like those shown in the figures.
