1 The working principle

Fabric moves at a very high speed, and is suspended and trans-
ported by the airflow, inside a special duct or channel, the heart of
AIRO® treatment. Air is taken from the surrounding area in adjust-
able amounts by means of a special high-efficiency centrifugal
fan system and is then injected into the channel in alternate direc-
tions at extremely high speed. The inversion of the flow is very
quick and accurate, and the channel – self cleaning – is aerody- 2 3
namically designed in order to avoid any resistance to air.

2 Perfectly symmetric
distribution of air on the fabric
The shape and size of the treatment channel has not been left
to chance: it comes from the long experience of the AIRO ®
Venturi tube. The operation is based on the physical principle of
conservation of energy, transferred from the air flowing into the
treatment channel to the fabric, which moves within an air
cushion, and is processed evenly in width and length, with ad-
justable speeds that reach over 2,800 m/min (168 km/h). 4

3 The impact grill

Our experience with AIRO ® has enabled us to define and
optimise the angle, distance and structure of the special
grills which are placed in front of the channel openings.
They allow the fabric to discharge the accumulated ki-
netic energy. The fabric benefits from the mechanical
action developed within this process and acquires body,
volume, drape, and better stability, while getting rid of
any excess of humidity.

Power and control: modulable mechanical action

The AIRO®24 can finely modulate the intensity of the mechanical action independently from the
drying power, with the unique and patented SMART-SWITCH 2.0 technology, a device that intelli-
gently controls and optimises the change of direction of the air and fabric.
From lightweight materials to heavier ones made of delicate yarn, every type of fabric can benefit
from the SMART-SWITCH 2.0 technology, with a considerable increase in drying capacity and pro-
ductivity: strong when needed, gentle where deserved.
Air recirculation and anti-yellowing system
The recirculation action is created by the depression of the air at the end of the channel where the fabric enters, and by
the ratio between the injected and exhausted air. Even while alternating direction, the programmed temperature, speed
and amount of air all remain constant, as does the fabric speed, which is transported without tension. The specific design
of the machine avoids the need for maintenance and eliminates the risk of yellowing fabric, even when using the highly
efficient microprocessor-controlled gas burner as an alternative (or together, thanks to the twin heating option) to the
other heating systems such as steam (normal and overheated) and diathermic oil.

4 High-efficacy filtering
The filtering action is independent from the air recirculation pro-
cess. The air that comes out of the self-cleaning treatment
channel, is loaded with dust, lint and the humidity that has been
extracted from the fabric. It immediately enters the exhaust
flow, passing through an automatic filter, which is made up of a
large self-cleaning filtering element, and a compacting unit with
a collection bag that is placed on ground level for easy access.
This reduces cleaning operations to a minimum, preventing any
clogging problems and avoiding any stoppage of the machine.
The efficiency of the AIRO®24 is constant as is the quality of the
treatment: lot after lot, day after day.

Powerful and frugal

The combination of temperature and mechanical action on the fabric, the
ratio of new and recirculated air injected into the treatment channel and the
high air speed, which optimises the thermal exchange between the fabric and
the air, all remarkably increase the thermal efficiency of the AIRO®24. Its high
drying capacity, in addition to other elements such as non-stop in/out fabric
synchronisation, flexible input and output modules, maintenance-free design
and efficient filtering system, are all features that contribute to the high pro-
ductivity of the machine.
Together with the low electrical consumption (minimal installed power and
electronically controlled motors), the AIRO®24 offers flexible and extremely
efficient production, delivering the least cost per metre of processed fabric.

5 6 Full range of accessories

and processing options
5 The AIRO®24 can be fitted with a set of accessories, such as the
external steaming set with exhaust fan and anti-condensation
bars installed at fabric entry, internal synchronized steaming,
as well as integrated squeezing foulard, finishing padder, and
pre-drying modules including the new AIRBOX.
For increased flexibility, the quick-threading multi-panel config-
uration with easy switch from one to two or three independently
centred panels of fabric, or the multi-tubular configuration, al-
low to fully exploit the processing power of the machine.
The patented H-SHUTTER device, that independently varies the
width of each end of the treatment channel, increases the per-
formance of the machine, providing extreme flexibility for spe-
cial treatments such as on polar fleece.
In addition, with the new and patented FLEXFLOW option, the
height of the treatment channel can be modulated in a range of
±50%, allowing to adaptively shape the flow of the air process
7 and perfectly match it to the characteristics of the fabric, for an
optimized process which leads to unprecedented levels of flex-
ibility, productivity and energy saving.

7 Integrated control, real-time monitoring, remote access

The new 15” touch screen and the specially designed user-friendly interface, together with an auxiliary touch display at the fabric
exit, allow for complete control and the seamless integration of the AIRO®24 with all the other machines such as padders and
pre-drying modules that make up the Biancalani processing line.
Recipes, usage statistics and real-time data can be visualised and managed either on the machine or from a remote computer
connected to the network. It is also possible to allow direct access to the working parameters in order to interface the AIRO®24
with existing monitoring systems.
USEANDTREATMENTS
