Crime is an act that violates the law, whether done consciously or unconsciously.

Crime becomes something that is already familiar in Indonesian society. Each individual has a unique
and different character, of course this difference can lead to conflict in society. This conflict can be a
trigger for the emergence of various criminal acts that occur in the community. In fact, even every
year the crime rate tends to increase. Moreover, in areas or regions included in urban areas. Crime
rates in urban areas are relatively higher than in rural areas. This is because the competition of
individuals in the city is higher, besides the demands and prestige in the life of the urban community
is far different from the rural community. Indonesia as a country consisting of various ethnic groups
with different characters certainly also makes crime a major concern. Even recorded crime rates
increase along with increasingly densely populated populations and intense competition. Not only
that, of course there are many factors that cause crime often occur.

Social inequality is the main cause of the increasing crime rate in this country. How not,
because it cannot be denied that differences in social levels in society will lead to differences in
views. For example, those who have money and positions will tend to get power more easily.
Otherwise, a weak economy society tends to be difficult, even just to get legal justice. Status
differences due to social inequality can certainly trigger acts of crime. Especially from a weak
economic society that tends to want to get an equal status. So that criminal acts such as robbery,
hijacking and theft become one of the most often criminal acts as in Indonesia. Surely this should be
a lesson in the resolution effort where social inequalities must be resolved.

The increasing number of unemployed people is also one of the causes of rising crime rates.
Because of course it cannot be denied that someone who is unemployed still needs funds to fulfill
his life. While he has no income to fulfill his life. Then of course there is no other choice but to
commit a crime. This method is considered to be the most instant way to get money. Especially in
urban areas that definitely have a high standard of living. Certainly, the unemployed have a great
motive for committing crime. Therefore, to overcome this, of course the only option is to create as
many employment opportunities as possible. So of course everyone is able to have income for their
daily needs.

situation is sometimes used by some people to make it even hotter. Often the action of war of words
then turns into anarchist actions which ultimately lead to criminal behavior. As has become a culture
in Indonesia. this incident we often encounter around us, for example such as election
demonstrations which eventually become chaos so that many are victims of these incident.

Population density is also a factor that makes crime in Indonesia increase. In Indonesia there
is an opinion which says that if you are in a urban area, your income will be more than compared to
being in a rural area, because of the large number of jobs. With the opening of jobs in an area causes
people to go to settle in the area. This has become the cause of increasing population density in
Indonesia. Increasing population also automatically makes competition increase. Those who have
more chances of success are creative, innovative and able to take advantage of various
opportunities. Of course this closes opportunities for individuals who do not have expertise and
higher education. In the end this condition will lead to increasing crime.
 As a state of law, of course all things that exist are always there laws and rules. with the
existence of law, justice and order in society can be maintained in the principles of democracy in
Indonesia. However, in fact there are many cases that show unfair law enforcement action. Where
those who have assets and positions will be able to easily escape from punishment. Of course this
shows that law enforcement in this country is still considered not firm. In fact, many law
enforcement officer are willing to accept bribes. So this fact shows that the law in Indonesia seems
to be traded. The firmness of the law officer is the key to minimizing criminal acts that occur. If not,
then everyone will do things as they wish, violating the limits of norms, harming others and breaking
the law

Social conflicts that occur in the community are also one of the causes of crime. Social
conflicts are common in the community. Social conflicts can be caused by differences in the
community. Starting from the differences in ways of thinking, perspectives and differences of
opinion. There could be individuals who have personal interests who take advantage of this
situation. Often the provocation that is made leads to bad actions. For example, vigilantism is often
the case recently. Surely this would not have happened if no one had provoked the situation. A hot
situation will certainly lead to negative actions such as criminal acts such as vigilantism.

Those were some of the factors that have caused the increase in crime in Indonesia . The
problem of increasing crime in Indonesia is very worrying for all levels of society in Indonesia. A
crime committed by someone must have cause and effect. To overcome the problem of crime in
Indonesia, not only the role of the police, but the government and religious leaders must work
together in overcoming the problem of crime in Indonesia. It is hoped that all levels of society in
Indonesia will jointly create security, order and peace in the life of society, nation and state and obey
the laws and regulations so as to create a safe, peaceful and prosperous life.
