NEW NORMAL, NEW PREXY

Catindig to serve as 4th CCI prexy during new normal

By Randell Jan Palatan

Reverend Father Raymann G. Catindig, Ed.D. will serve as the new college president and
Chief Inspiration Officer of Columban College, Inc. (CCI) and superintendent of the Association
of Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Iba (ACSDI) during its transition to the new normal
Catholic education amidst the COVID-19 pandemic after he was installed last June 19.
"It is not a matter of 'who am I' but 'whom am I,' To whom do we belong and I will tell
you the answer to that; we are Christ's and not our own," Fr. Raymann said in his inaugural
address during the Thanksgiving Mass and Investiture at St. Columban Parish on August 6.
During the past months, the college has stood strong amidst the unprecedented challenges
brought by the pandemic as Catindig reassured that along with their desire to continuously
deliver quality Catholic education, the safety of everyone will never be compromised as top
priority.
"The entire Columban College community will continue to support and walk with you in
your transition into college life, despite pandemic, we must begin academic year 2020-2021 and
learning must continue," he said addressing the students during a pre-recorded speech to
welcome the academic year.
"We are ready for this, adapting and strengthening our practices to provide a quality
flexible learning experience with integration of catholic faith and values. Our school
administrators are assessing the school's readiness to distance learning. Our faculty members are
engaged in continuous learning and professional development to deliver instruction to meet the
needs of students in our new normal education," he added.
Catindig also urged students to welcome the year with enthusiasm to learn amidst this
global pandemic and thanked their parents who trusted the school with their children and
reassured their safety and quality learning.
Prior to his appointment, Fr. Raymann already served as parish priest of Immaculate
Conception Parish (ICP) when it found its new home in Columban College-Barretto (CCB)
Chapel during the closure of the main church in 2013 due to several issues.
In his years of service, he brought the academe closer to Catholic teachings through the
establishment of a Youth Ministry and daily, weekly, and monthly mass attendance and
sponsorships.
Catindig served as the school director of TR Yangco Catholic Educational Institute
(TRYCEI) in San Antonio, Zambales for several years before succeeding Most Rev. Msgr.
Crisostomo Cacho as CCI president who now resides in St. Joseph Parish (SJP) in Olongapo
City.
