Subject: Suggested STP Sludge management procedure

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

In the Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) system, the excess sludge is pumped out from the SBR tank to the aerobic
sludge digester tank. The Sludge digester is designed to have a minimum solid retention time (SRT). The tank shall
be aerated by a positive displacement blower that diffuses through stainless steel non-clog cyclone diffusers. After
digestion, the volume of volatile suspended solids (digested sludge) shall be reduced/oxidized to stable forms by
about 40 to 50%.

When the sludge digester tank reaches 60% - 75% of its tank capacity, a sludge pump will be operated to transfer
sludge mixture from the digester tank to the sludge dewatering / filter press. The filter press will be operated to
reduced the tank’s contents until 50% of the digester tank’s capacity has been reached.

The filtered & dehydrated sludge should be contained in biodegradable garbage bags subject for further treatment
or disposal by your authorized and accredited DENR hauler. This will be undertaken by at least once a year.
