Direction: Watch the Toyota Production Documentary (https://www.youtube.com/

watch?v=k4-eJsFdxaU) and make a reflective writing on Toyota’s use of Enterprise
Resource Planning and Lean Production or Real-Time Reaction.
“REFLECTION”

Toyota is one of the leading car companies worldwide. They are known for durable,
_______________________________________________________________________
efficient and affordable but also the have expensive cars with massive features such
_______________________________________________________________________
as sports car and hybrid cars. The question in people's mind is that, how do these
_______________________________________________________________________
guys produce thousands of these cars with much qualities, features and
_______________________________________________________________________
performance with less or near to none defects. Well, Toyota uses some kind of
_______________________________________________________________________
system that manages their production efficiently.

customers or the next production stage. Their storage as well has enough supplies

stored until it is needed. This way they wont have to add another schedule in case

of mass production gets increased. In their production, Toyota uses many robots

to simultaneously achieve more work within time. But manual labors were a need

in order to stop the automation when it faces some problems.

Toyota's production is so meticulous such that the team members in some production

stage must wear suits that wont affect the quality of the products. They use pull

system in their JIT concept. Where machines pull out the materials to the production

not like traditional manufacturing that uses Push System. In this method they can

only pull materials when in need, just how much is needed and can produce

what is needed. Also, Toyota production system uses the term jidoka as a concept.
_______________________________________________________________________
For Toyota, jidoka means that a machine must come to a safe stop whenever an

abnormality occurs. Achieving jidoka, therefore, requires building and improving

systems by hand until they are reliable and safe. They can save tons of materials

and components with this method.

ACTIVITY #7—REFLECTION

The over all production of Toyota is empowered by the concept "kaizen". Team
_______________________________________________________________________
members of toyota production experience all kinds of troubles during the process
_______________________________________________________________________
this will become the fuel to the improvments of their system. They are driven by
_______________________________________________________________________
the kaizen principle or the philosophy of continuous improvement that achieves

lean.
_______________________________________________________________________
By ensuring thorough implementation of jidoka and the Just-in-Time method, They
_______________________________________________________________________
increased workers' productivity by adding value and realized the Toyota Production
_______________________________________________________________________
System, which enabled Toyota to compete head-on with companies in Europe and the U.S.
