6. Procedures: (outline or bullet points)

a. Welcome class (Hi everybody!)

i. Go through outline
1. Today we’re going to be using Chrome Music Lab to talk
about beat and rhythm, and possibly even performing
our own beats and rhythms that we write as a class if
we have time!
b. Share your screen, where you should already have a rhythm in 4 laid
out with only 1 instrument playing at a time
i. Brief overview of how CML Rhythm works, and CML in general
if they haven’t seen it before.
ii. Have students listen to the rhythm (if audio doesn’t work,
unplug computer and let them listen through your speakers)
1. How many instruments are playing? (Feel free to just
call it out)
2. What types of instruments are they?
3. Which instrument is playing the low sounds? Middle?
High?
iii. Have students identify how many beats we have in our starting
rhythm (4, identified by the big lines that simulate barlines)
iv. Play rhythm for them again and have them feel the beat in
some physical way
1. Marching in place, walking, tapping, clapping, etc.
2. This is our beat! How many beats do we have again?
v. Repeat if necessary, most likely not though
c. So, we talked about low, middle, and high sounds…
i. Can we pick out a body percussion sound that would match
low, middle, and high? There’s no wrong answers, and we
definitely don’t have to stay in our seats!
ii. As each sound is picked, perform each rhythm as per what is
written in CML while it is being played
d. Divide class into 3 groups of 3, one for each sound
i. Perform the full rhythm as a class alongside CML at the same
time
ii. Switch groups if running really quick on time
e. If there’s extra time, work with students to write a new rhythm and
perform it in our 3 groups!

7. Summary:
Great job today everybody! I hope you all found something fun to pass
the time with today, and have a wonderful rest of your day!
