LESSON 8: CREATE RHYTHMIC PATTERN IN TIME
𝟖𝟖
SIGNATURE

EXPECTATIONS

𝟔𝟔
You will create rhythmic patterns in time signature.
𝟖𝟖
Specifically, this module will help you to:
6
• count a bar in a time signature;
8
6
• listen to recommended music with time signature.
8
6
• create rhythmic patterns in time signature.
8
6
Let us start your journey in learning more about time signature.
8
Let’s Think and Act Now!

LOOKING BACK TO YOUR LESSON

Directions. Complete the rhythmic pattern by supplying notes. Write your
answer on the blank.

1.

2.

3.

4
BRIEF INTRODUCTION
6
There are two ways to count a bar in time signature. You can either
8
count it as;

𝟔𝟔
1. counted as six eighth notes: 1,2,3,4,5,6
𝟖𝟖

𝟔𝟔
2. counted as two dotted quarter notes: 1…2…
𝟖𝟖

In the first case, you are counting out six beats every bar while in the

second case just two. However, when you count all six you actually

emphasizing beats 1 and 4, so it’s more like 1,2,3, 4,5,6. Those two places

correspond to where your dotted-quarter note beats would fall so you are

emphasizing those two beats even if you’re counting out all six.

ACTIVITIES

Activity 1: (Critical Thinking)

6
Objective: Create rhythmic patterns intime signatures.

Directions. Group the following notes and rests in time signature by

REMEMBER

𝟔𝟔
time signature can be counted as six eighth notes: 1,2,3,4,5,6 and
𝟖𝟖
two dotted quarter notes: 1…2…

6
CHECKING YOUR UNDERSTANDING
6
Here is a song you’ve probably heard before which uses a time
8

signature, along with some notes on each to help you tune your ear in. The

song entitled “We Are the Champion” by Queen is a good example for counting

straight 6 (1,2,3,4,5,6) as the half-measure divisions (i.e. the dotted-quarter-

note beat) aren’t as clear in this one. You can hear them in the instrument

hits on “share of sand kicked in my face” and somewhat emphasized in the

drum part after that.

While listening to the song, think of our hard fight towards Covid -19.

Think of things that you would like to say to our front liners to express your

sincerest appreciation for their hard fight towards this pandemic and crisis.

Write your answer in your activity notebook.

ARTS 6
LESSON 8: CREATING MY PERSONAL
SUPERHERO

EXPECTATIONS

You will recognize the elements and principles of art used in digital
drawing. Specifically, this module will help you to:
 create own cartoon character to entertain, express opinions, ideas,
etc.

LOOKING BACK TO YOUR LESSON

Figure this out!
Directions. Arrange the steps in making cartoon character in proper order.
Write ordinal number (First, Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth).

a. Type the name of your cartoon character and save your output.
b. Visualize and sketch your idea.
c. Use pen tool to outline your sketch.
d. Scan your sketch.
e. Use brush

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

Let’s Study This!

When cartoon characters like superhero, have a distinct personality,
people easily remember them. It is shown in their facial expressions, clothes,
and the way they move and talk.

9
Thus, the first thing you need to do is conceptualize. Think of its
personality. Then follow these steps to create your own superhero.

1. Sketch your ideal superhero in a bond paper.

2. Scan your sketch with scanner or cellphone

to digitize.

3. Open your editing software. In this image, the cartoonist edit it with the

use of adobe photoshop. Using pen tool, outline your sketch.

10
4. After the outline, use the paint bucket and brush tool to add color.

5. Gradient tool creates a gradual blend between multiple colors.

6. You can also add an overlay to darken the color.

7. Think about the name of your superhero.

Include the name in your output and then
save the file.

11
ACTIVITIES
Let’s Do This!
Directions. Practice sketching. Copy the figures below.

12
REMEMBER
Lesson to Ponder!

Cartoonist today have started developing different characters

digitally. With the aid of the computer and softwares, cartoonist crop,

edit, enhance, lighten, darken, shade, and add color. They use scanners,

graphic tablets, digital pens, printers and whatever new gadgets that are

available.

13
CHECKING YOUR UNDERSTANDING

BRIEF INTRODUCTION

TATSING

The game Tatsing is Hispanic in

origin. It was played by the Tagalogs of
Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

The word Tatsing was derived from

the English word "touching".

⮚ Bottle caps or tansan –(target objects)
⮚ Pamato (This can be a flat stone used to

natmalino-philgames-blog-blog.tumblr.com

Objective of the Game

The purpose of the game is to get the most bottle caps by hitting them
out of the square with the pamato.

Skills Being Developed in this Game

This game enhances your accuracy, muscular endurance and

coordination in hitting the target. You should at least do this game 3-5 times
a week to help you become physically fit.

17
How To Play Tatsing

1. The players will decide on how big the square would be based on the
number of bottle caps they have.
2. Several bottle caps are placed inside the square which is about 6-8
feet away from the toe-line.
3. To start the game, each player throws his pamato on/near the toe-
line. The player whose pamato lands nearest the toe-line plays first
and so on.
4. First player steps on the toe-line and will try to hit the bottle caps out of
the square without leaving the pamato inside the square.
5. If the player did not hit the bottle caps out of the square, he will then give
his turn to the next player leaving his pamato inside the playing area.
6. The player with the most bottle caps at the end of the game, wins.

Variations of the Game

Instead of using bottle caps, you can use things like action figures (tau-
tauhan), coins, small stones and other materials which can be hit.
