Miss Smith taught three small groups virtually. The skill addressed in the lesson was recognizing text features and
how they can help us gather information to create a biography flipbook. In these three groups there are vast
learning abilities and exceptionalities. Each group received 30 minutes of instruction.
For group 1(ELL/SLED), Miss Smith provided sorting activities heavily scaffolded with pictures and arrows
pointing out Text features in a sample biography. She asked questions about why text features would help them.
The pictures and activities were engaging and fun. The group was provided with a checkpoint slide, to check for
student understanding before going on. The lesson ended with Miss Smith asking each student who choose to
research. The student then inserted that picture into their slide. Miss Smith’s learning goals were clearly stated
before and after her lesson.
