Course Goals Week 4

The grade I would like to focus on is the first grade because that is what I have for field this

semester. The topic I would like to focus on is science. Some course goals are:

1. Students will read and retell stories.

2. Students will identify sight words throughout different levels of difficulty.

3. Students will use correct capitalization and punctuation.

4. Students will be able to sound out and recognize substantial sounds.

5. Students will use strategies when using comprehending skills.

6. Students will use letter-sound associations, word parts, and context.

7. Students will participate in collaborative conversations.

Course Objectives Week 5

1. Students will listen to a story and verbally share a retell in logical order.

2. Students will recognize and say simple compound words.

3. Students will begin sentences with the correct capitalization and end with correct

punctuation.

4. Students will recognize beginning consonants plus ending consonants and repeat rhyming

words.

5. Students will use comprehension strategies such as writing and illustrating sentences.
6. Students will use letter-sound associations, word parts, and context to identify new

words.

7. Students will participate in collaborative conversations with partners about reviewed

topics and texts in small and larger groups.

Learning Objectives

1. Students will share and analyze the retelling of a story in logical order by listening to

Partner Practice books.

2. Students will recognize, identify, and say simple compound words by echo reading.

3. Students will begin sentences with the correct capitalization and end with correct

punctuation by formulating simple sentences, short stories or paragraphs in chronological

order.

4. Students will compare beginning consonants vs ending consonants and repeat rhyming

words that are seen in literacy resources.

5. Students will use comprehension strategies that involve writing and illustrating sentences

by completing graphic organizers.

6. Students will use letter-sound associations, word parts, and context to identify new words

in a variety of text.

7. Students will participate in collaborative conversations and build on others' talk during

conversations by responding to the comments of others through multiple exchanges.
