Tagalog Words
1. Pogi - Handsome
2. Maganda - Beautiful
3. Nanay - Mom
4. Tatay - Dad
5. Kuya - older brother
Objective: Students will be able to perform the tagalog
chant that was made by the teacher. The teacher will have
to chant with the class.

Activity: The teacher will create his or her own chant that

Musical
can be easily memorized by the students. Then the
teacher will teach it to the class, so that the class can
learn it and memorize the tagalog words that are used in
the chant.

Rationale: This is important because some students are

good with music and remembering music. By using music
students will easily remember the tagalog words.

Materials:

● Script
● Poster of the Chant that students can follow
This isn’t the exact chant that I would like to do. I
would suggest using this chant when the teacher is
teaching more tagalog words that’ll match the
chant.

This Chant can be sung to a beat, depending on the

words you use. Using this chant I would have
changed certain words like “snail” and the other
adjectives to tagalog words. For example:

Nanay here, Tatay there

Nanay, Tatay everywhere!

Maganda nanay singing

Pogi Tatay smiling
...
Body and Kinesthetic

Objective: Students will be able to demonstrate the tagalog words by doing actions
that matches with the words.

Activity: The teacher will give the actions that will match with the words that the
students will have to remember. The students will have to copy and learn from the
teacher. The teacher will give an temperature check if students can do the actions
themselves at the end.

Rationale: This is important because students can also remember the words not just
by saying it but also remembering the actions that matches with it.

Materials: Chant Poster and pictures

Students will say the chant that they learned
from the last lesson with the teacher. Then the “Pogi tatay smiling”
teacher can decide with the students on hand
motions that go with each tagalog word that is
used in the chant.
Every time they create motions for a section
(color portion) of the chant, they can act out the
chant from the beginning to where they left off.
This helps them to remember all the hand motions.

An example of what to do is shown on the right.

When the students say that part in the chant,
they can act out that same pose the man in the
picture is doing. That pose can symbolize the word
“pogi” since it means handsome.
Objective: Students will be able to recite the
basic tagalog words by using the flashcards
with english equivalency as a guide.

Activity: The teacher will give out 10 flashcards

Verbal / to each students and recite the tagalog and

english words together. They start off with one
card and then add one flash card each

Linguistic recitation so that students can try to

remember.

Rationale: This is important because it will

help the students remember the words by
reciting the words over and over again until
they can memorize it.

Materials: Flashcards
Instead of the student using math on their flash cards they'll use cards like the ones on the right. Every
time they can perfectly recite the cards in their hand they can add a new card that”ll be a new word in their
hand that they can practice with.
Logical/Mathematical
Objective: Students will be able to compare the tagalog words by using a chart.

Activity: Teacher will give out a chart that consists of the words that is being taught
and compare the words with their respective column.

Rationale: This is important because it will help students recognize the words much
easier by comparing the words.

Materials: Diagram Worksheet

Male Female
One way that the teacher
can choose categories, - Nanay
- Tatay
especially for our list of - Kuya - Maganda
- Pogi
words, is by gender.
Knowing the gender of who
you can say these words too
is extremely important.
Which is why sorting them in
this way, can help students
make a better connection.
Objective: Students will be able to recall Tagalog
Visual and words by matching it with their English
Spatial (Game) counterparts.

Activity: The teacher will give 20 flashcards for

each student. Half of the flash card is tagalog
while the other half is english. The students will
have to pair the tagalog word with their english
counterpart. Students can use the legend that will
be given to finish this activity. First person to
finish wins.

Rationale: This is important because students will

have to concentrate harder to finish the task. In
this way, it will also be more fun and competitive.

Materials: Flashcards
Students will
Tatay Dad Beautiful
need to match
every white
Kuya card to a blue
Mom card. First
student to do
Pogi so, wins the
Handsome game.
Nanay
Brother

Interpersonal
Objective: Students will be able to apply tagalog words by talking to each other.

Activity: Teacher will place students in groups, and have them create skits. The point
of the skit is for the students to use the tagalog words that were taught. They don't
have to act anything they could just carry out a conversation if they want to.

Rationale: This is important because it gives students a basic concept of how to use
tagalog words in a conversation.

Materials: Hand - out

When students are in their groups, the teacher can decide to have them use only some of the tagalog words
or to use all. If it's only a few words, the students can do a short skit while using the words as shown on the
bottom.

I think either Nanay or

Hey Kuya! Do you Tatay has it. Maybe
know where my you should ask them.
water bottle is?
Intrapersonal

Objective: Students will be able to express themselves by using tagalog words.

Activity: Students will use the words that they learned and use those words to
express themselves.

Rationale: This is important because students will learn how to use the application
of the tagalog words.

Materials: None
The teacher can let students know, ahead of time, when they will assign a
day where students can freely use the tagalog words that were taught. When
the day comes the student can either speak to the teacher about things that
happened at home or they can use it around the classroom with their
classmates.
