How to Activate UAN on EPFO Portal — A Step by Step Guide

Now that you got your UAN number lets activate it and check your PF balance:

Step 1: Go to the https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ and click

Activate UAN on the bottom-right corner of the page.

Step 2: Enter your UAN number along with the other details such as name, date of birth, mobile
no, and captcha code. Enter the tab ‘Get Authorization Pin’.
 Activate (Universal Account Number) & Check Balance

Step 3: You will now get a one-time password (OTP) on your mobile number. Enter the PIN and
click on the ‘Validate OTP and get UAN’ button.

Step 4: This will activate your UAN and the password will be sent to your mobile number.

How to Check your PF Balance?

In order to check your PF balance, please follow the below steps:

Method 1: Via EPFO portal

Step 1: Go to https://passbook.epfindia.gov.in/MemberPassBook/Login

Step 2: Login with your UAN and Password

Step 3: Select the establishment in which you want to see your balance

Step 4: Your Passbook will be dispalyed

Method 2 : SMS using registered mobile number

If your UAN is registered with the EPFO, you can get the details of your latest contribution and
PF balance by sending an SMS to 7738299899.

You need to send this message: EPFOHO UAN ENG.

'ENG' is the first three characters of the preferred language. So, if you want to receive the
message in Tamil, then type in EPFOHO UAN TAM

The facility is available in 10 languages - English (default), Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi,
Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.

Method 3: By giving a missed call

If you are registered on the UAN portal, giving a missed call on 011-22901406 from your
registered mobile number will get you the details.

Method 4: Using the Umang/EPFO app

You can find the EPFO option from the app’s homepage under the head “Employee Centric
Services” option and access your PF account details. The app can be downloaded from Google
Play Store.
