CSTP 6 Developing as a Professional Educator

CSTP 6.1 - Reflecting on teaching practice in support of student learning

● Level of Development - Exploring
○ Teacher - This year, a handful of teachers at my school took an online
course/training together. We learned and reflected on IB and our practices. We
were able to collaborate to get new ideas, and we reflected on our teaching
practices and strategies.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: January 6 - February 3 2021
● Evidence - Here is a certificate of completion for my online training completed earlier this
year. We strategized to discover best and new practices when it comes to
student-centered, inquiry based learning.

CSTP 6.2 - Establishing professional goals and engaging in continuous and purposeful
professional growth and development
● Level of Development - Applying
○ Teacher - Establishing professional goals is a practice my school does at the start
of every school year. In a typical year, we write individual goals, Then we get
observed and have a meeting about if we are achieving our goals or if we need to
make an adjustment in order to achieve our goals. This year, because of covid,
we are working so collaboratively, we created team (grade-level) goals.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: April 19, 2021
● Evidence - At the start of the year we created goals for our team, choosing one Teacher
Learn Profile strength and one weakness. We reflected as a team on these goals just
last week and feel we have accomplished what we hoped to accomplish this year.

CSTP 6.3 - Collaborating with colleagues and the broader professional community to support
teacher and student learning
● Level of Development - Emerging
○ Teacher - Every Friday school ends for the students at 1:05 instead of 3:05, and
that time is used to meet and collaborate with grade and division levels within our
school.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: All year
● Evidence - We are given a schedule of where we are meeting and with who. We use this
time to work as a team level to prep and plan. We sometimes meet with the grades
above and below our grade level in order to discuss what should be taught. We meet as
an elementary school to discuss any important topics. We also meet based on subjects
(this year since it is a bit different.)

CSTP 6.4 - Working with families to support student learning

● Level of Development - Emerging
○ Teacher - We meet with families for conferences throughout the year. We reach
out to families whose children need extra support in different subject areas.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: April 21, 2021
● Evidence - This past week, we met with our Center for Learning (C4L) team and a parent
to discuss the learning outcomes of one student who is reading below grade level. We
have strategies in place now for this student that were shared with the family.

CSTP 6.5 - Engaging local communities in support of the instructional program

● Level of Development - Emerging
○ Teacher - This year, we invited (virtually) a speaker from the organization With
My Own 2 Hands. They talked about the unequal distribution of water. Our
students then did a water walk to raise money to build a well to help get everyone
access to clean drinking water around the world.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: March 19, 2021
● Evidence - The students were learning about the unequal distribution of water around
the world. We partner with an organization called With My Own 2 Hands and the
students raise funds to donate for a well. We invited a representative from this
organization to virtually meet with our students to share about what they do and answer
any questions the students may have.

CSTP 6.6 - Managing professional responsibilities to maintain motivation and commitment to all
students
● Level of Development - Exploring
○ Teacher - In order to create a balanced professional life, I stay involved in outside
activities as well. I am a “student mentor” for a service organization called R12
where I lead discussions amongst high school students. I attend church regularly
where I feel most connected to community. I also keep honey bees and recently
picked up Pickleball with my family and friends.
○ Student - N/A
● Date: Ongoing
● Evidence - R12 is a mother/daughter service organization in which I lead a group of high
school girls in discussion at our monthly meetings. The girls and I also gather together to
pray, go out to dinner, grab coffee, do work/homework, and just do life with one another.

CSTP 6.7 - Demonstrating professional responsibility, integrity, and ethical conduct

● Level of Development - Exploring
○ Teacher - The number one goal I have as a teacher is to encourage the people
around me, including students, teachers, administrators, and staff. If I teach a
lesson well but am unkind, dishonest, or irresponsible, then I am not doing my job
well.
