The carnival of Brazil is a festival held annually in Brazil, at the end of February or
early March. It corresponds to the national version of the carnival, which is
celebrated between the afternoon of Friday (47 days before Easter) and the
Wednesday of ash at noon (40 days before Holy Week), which marks the
beginning of Lent, the forty-day period before Easter.
What is the purpose of celebrating?
The purpose of the carnival is to enjoy a
last week of celebrations before the 40
days of abstinence that end at Easter, the
day of the resurrection of Christ.
What is done at the Janeiro River Festival?
The Carnival of Rio de Janeiro became a
colourful and festive street parade in which
hundreds of people participated with cheerful
costumes, followed by musical groups formed
mainly by drums and other instruments of
percussion, wind and rope.
What do you eat at the Janeiro River Festival?
Currently, like yesteryear, galani is eaten (fresh pasta fried with butter and
sugary), Carnival fritelle (buñuelos), buranelli (roscas de lambs of Murano),
castradita (salted lamb meat), and fried liver
How do they dress for the carnival of Rio de Janeiro?
Women wear high tacos, corpiños with sequins and should not
carry a thong less than 4 centimetres. For men, they usually wear
tight pants and show their chest.

are, in the Southeast region in general, most
of the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo:
samba-enredo, samba de bloco, samba de
embalo and marchinha; and in the
