Lesson Plan Title: Inequalities April 20th

Concept / Topic to Teach: Inequalities

Objectives (Iowa Core Standard(s): 7.EE.4b

A. Seventh grade math students

B. students will be able to do inequalities

C. students will be shown this presentation and follow along with me

D. students will be able to do the inequalities independently

Anticipatory Set (Lead-In):

I will review with the students what the symbols for inequalities will mean

Teaching:

Input/Step-By-Step Procedures for Direct Instruction w/time estimate:

I will have a slideshow up on the whiteboard. I will teach students how to parts 2 and 3 using one problem to teach
how to do them. Students should be following along with me.

These will each take around 5 minutes to complete

Modeling:

I will be modeling to the students how how to the inequalities and the graphing part.

Students will be following along with me as I model them.

Checking for Understanding:

Ask if students have any questions and walk around the room and see if students were following along with me
and see if they did them correctly

Step-By-Step Procedures for Guided Practice w/time estimate:

Students will help me do the one of the problems from each part on the board, while writing these down on their
whiteboards as well.

Students will then do the next problem on their whiteboards by themselves. When they are done they will wait until
everyone else is done. I will ask for volunteers to come up and do it on the board.

Plan for checking for understanding

I will make sure after each problem we do together that students are following along and that they understand it.
When students are completing problems on their own I will walk around and see if students need any help or if
they are understanding what they are doing.
Plan for Independent Practice (may be outside of class): If we get through everything students will do online boom
cards

Closure:

Check how students did on their boom cards, they will need to have had over 80% accuracy.

Make sure students still don’t have any questions

Required Materials:

Whiteboard and marker

Chromebooks if we finish the slideshow

8. Assessment based on objectives:

Students will have probes next week

· Adaptations (for students with learning disabilities):

Nick will have a piece of paper and pencil instead of a whiteboard and marker

· Extensions (for gifted students):

If a student gets done with everything, they can get on prodigy
