ELLEN
Emmy-winning talk show host Ellen Lee DeGeneres was born in Metairie, Louisiana, a New
Orleans suburb. She is the daughter of Betty DeGeneres
(née Elizabeth Jane Pfeffer), a speech therapist, and Elliott
Everett DeGeneres, an insurance agent. Her brother is
musician and producer Vance DeGeneres. Her parents
divorced when she was 16 years old. Her mother remarried,
and her new husband, salesman Roy Gruessendorf, moved
the family to Atlanta, Texas.

After graduating from Atlanta High School in 1976, Ellen

attended the University of New Orleans as a
communications major, but she dropped out after one
semester. She held a wide variety of jobs until she turned to stand-up comedy, making her bones
at small clubs and coffeehouses before working her way up to emcee Clyde's Comedy Club by
1981. Her comedy was described as a distaff version of Bob Newhart. Beginning in the early
1980s, she toured nationally and was named the funniest person in America after winning a
competition sponsored by the cable network Showtime. This led to better gigs, including her first
appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson (1962) in 1986.

Though DeGeneres's early forays into series television were not successful (she appeared as a
supporting player in two short-lived TV situation comedies in the period 1989-92, Open House
(1989) and Laurie Hill (1992)), she scored a hit headlining her own 1994 sitcom on ABC "These
Friends of Mine" (renamed Ellen (1994) after its first season). She made TV history in April
1997, when her character, and DeGeneres personally, revealed that she was a lesbian. However,
the show was canceled the following season due to declining ratings, after which DeGeneres
returned to the stand-up circuit. In 2001, DeGeneres launched a new series, The Ellen Show
(2001), on CBS, but it suffered from poor ratings and was canceled.

Redemption as a television artist came in 2003, when DeGeneres's daytime talk show, The Ellen
DeGeneres Show (2003), proved to be both a critical hit and a commercial success. Along with
good ratings, the show has won unprecedented kudos from the industry, winning 15 Emmy
Awards in its first three seasons on the air and becoming the first talk show in TV history to win
the Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show in its first three seasons.

DeGeneres has also made a name for herself as a host of awards shows. She hosted the Grammy
Awards in 1996 and 1997, as well as the Primetime Emmy Awards in 2001 and 2005. In
February 2007, she had the ultimate TV awards show gig, hosting the Oscars, which she hosted
again in 2014.

Emmy in 2010 for the show's website in the interactive media category and received the Webby

Additionally, Fallon returned to his "Saturday Night Live" roots when he hosted both the 2013
and 2011 Christmas episodes of the legendary sketch comedy show to widespread critical praise.
His first "SNL" hosting effort earned him a 2012 Emmy Award for outstanding guest actor in a
comedy series. He also received rave reviews for his stint hosting the 2010 Primetime Emmy
Awards. Most notably, he opened the show with a star-studded performance of Bruce
Springsteen's "Born to Run."

For Space Jam: A New Legacy

FOR TALENT ONLY

Space Jam: A New Legacy Prep Sheet

You should always be prepared to answer the following questions:

Q: “What was it like working on the set of Space Jam: A New Legacy?”
A: I missed being on a set. I'm not gonna lie. The cast and crew that I got to work with were

Q: “Have you called up Michael Jordan for any advice on working with the Tune Squad?”
A: I have! He’s brought a lot of inspiration to Space Jam that I definitely incorporated into my
time on the film.

Q: “What was working with your son, Ceyair, like on set?”

A: A dream. I wouldn’t give it up for the world.

Q: “What can we expect to be different in this movie from the first Space Jam film?”
A: Without giving too much away I think the biggest plot difference from the first one is going to
be the “Server Verse” aspect of the movie and navigating that world with Cedric Joe, who plays
my son.

Q: “You were a kid when Space Jam first came out in theatres. Would you say that it was a
key movie for you growing up?”
A: Absolutely. I was approached about doing the second Space Jam, but turned it down because I
didn’t think I was ready to do anything of that magnitude. I aspired to be just like Michael
Jordan.
Q: “How did you guys decide on the roster of the NBA and WNBA players? I can imagine
the demand to be cast for those roles.”
A: In the end I think it was decided based on players who are doing great things on and off the
court. It was definitely a challenge though, there are so many amazing men and women in the
league.

Q: “So LeBron how is it being an actor?”

A: “Well it is pretty damn good, I am really enjoying playing my role and cannot wait for the
movie to hit the theaters!”

Q: “How did you manage enough time to play basketball, film a movie, and take care of
your family?”
A: Just be yourself and speak genuinely but don’t give out too much information about the movie
and the behind the scenes. Try and speak about how you went around your basketball schedule
and how you never spent that much time away from home.

Q: “Was it hard filming during a pandemic?”

A: “It wasn’t easy at first. It definitely took some getting used to but the staff have made
everything so easy. I felt super safe on set at all times and everyone was extremely cooperative
with wearing their masks and not really having contact with anyone from outside of the set.”

Q: “Take us through a day on set.”

A: “Every morning we arrive at the set and get Covid tested. Afterwards, we usually goof off for
a little then get into action. We typically spend anywhere from 7-10 hours a day on set just
depends on how things go.”

Q: “What was it like playing a main character while co-producing Space Jam: A New
Legacy?”
A: I’ve produced more than I have acted. So it was interesting juggling both roles and
challenging myself in that way to achieve the final product for such an iconic movie franchise.
Q: “Have you found that after playing roles of actor and producer you prefer one over the
other?”
A: I don’t have a preference but I do enjoy acting. I don’t get to do it as often as I would like. It’s
like comparing apples and oranges.

Q: “How was it working with fellow Los Angeles Lakers players Anthony Davis and Kyle
Kuzma in a major project like this?”
A: I really don’t feel like it has been that big of a difference. On the court and on set were all
working together to accomplish a goal and have a good time. The fact it is a movie about
basketball just makes that connection even stronger.

Q: “Would you consider Space Jam 3?”

A: If given the chance, there is a good possibility I would. I love working with the Space Jam
team. I’d gladly do it again.

Q: “What would you change about Space Jam? About Space Jam: A New Legacy?”
A: I don’t know if I’d change anything. Maybe add an action scene or two. (haha)

Q: “Would you ever direct for the Space Jam franchise?

A: Of course. It would be an honor to direct such a successful franchise. It’s like directing a
movie for Marvel. It’s legendary.

Q: “What was your favorite part of filming Space Jam: A New Legacy?”
A: Bugs Bunny. He’s the best. Obviously.

Q: “You and Warner Bros. are partnering with Microsoft to create a custom user-inspired
video game for Space Jam: A New Legacy! How did this idea come about?”
A: Warner Bros were the ones to reach out to Microsoft. They came to me with the idea for my
help and promotion. I think this video game will be inspiring, it completely changes the rules of
video gaming and collaboration. I’m excited to see who will win and what the video game itself
will look like!

for the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun in 2014. She is now forward for the Los Angeles Sparks.
Outside of basketball she is the first black woman and WNBA player to host a national radio

University, she went to the final four all four years. She is a current forward for the WNBA’s Los
Angeles Sparks and president of the WNBA players association.
Meet the Tune Squad

Bugs Bunny
The fictional cartoon character was "born" in 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. He soon wound up
on the Warner Brothers studio lot and made his first feature appearance in Tex Avery's 'A Wild
Hare', when he emerged from his rabbit hole to ask Elmer Fudd, "What's Up Doc?". He will be
voiced by Eric Bauza in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Lola Bunny
Lola is generally depicted as Bugs Bunny's girlfriend. She first appeared in the 1996 film Space
Jam. Throughout the film, there is a sub-plot of whether there will be a romance between Lola
and Bugs. She is a tough-talking, no-nonsense woman who is extremely independent and
self-reliant. She will be voiced by Kath Soucie in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Daffy Duck
The character has appeared in cartoon series such as Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, in
which he usually has been depicted as a foil for Bugs Bunny. Daffy starred in 130 shorts in the
golden age, making him the third-most frequent character in the Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies
cartoons, behind Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig. He will be voiced by Eric Bauza in Space Jam: A
New Legacy.

Marvin the Martian

He frequently appears as a villain in cartoons and video games, and wears a helmet and skirt.
The character first appeared as an antagonist in the 1948 Bugs Bunny cartoon Haredevil Hare.
He will be voiced by Eric Bauza in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Tweety

The name "Tweety" is a play on words, as it originally meant "sweetie", along with "tweet" being
an English onomatopoeia for the sounds of birds. Despite the perceptions that people may hold,
owing to the long lashes and high pitched voice of Tweety, Tweety is male. On the other hand,
his species is ambiguous; although originally and often portrayed as a young canary, he is also
frequently called a rare and valuable "tweety bird" as a plot device. Tweety is owned by the
character ‘Grandma’.

Pepé Le Pew
Depicted as a French striped skunk, Pepé is constantly on the quest for love. However, his
offensive skunk odor and his aggressive pursuit of romance typically cause other characters to
run from him. He will be voiced by Eric Bauza.

Sylvester
Sylvester's trademark was his sloppy, stridulating lisp (which, like Daffy Duck's, was based on
producer Leon Schlesinger's). His sloppy voice was provided by voice acting legend Mel Blanc.
Sylvester is an adorable cat who shows much pride in himself, and he never gives up. He will be
voiced by Jeff Bergman.

Foghorn Leghorn
He is a white rooster who speaks with a Southern accent. He first appeared in the Henry Hawk
cartoon, "Walky Talky Hawky". He and the Daffy Duck both vie as the most popular character
associated with director Robert McKimson. He has a bombastic and somewhat unrefined
personality, added to which he shows a penchant for mischief. He will be voiced by Jeff
Bergman.

Porky Pig
Porky always remained a sentimental favorite of the Warner directors. He has a mild-mannered
nature and shy demeanor. In the ending of many Looney Tunes cartoons, Porky Pig bursts
through a bass drum head, and his attempt to close the show with "The End" becomes
"Th-Th-The, Th-Th-The, Th-Th... That's all, folks!" Porky Pig appeared in 153 cartoons in the
Golden age of American animation. He will be voiced by Bob Bergen.

Speedy Gonzales
He is portrayed as "The Fastest Mouse in all Mexico" with his major traits being the ability to
run extremely fast, speaking English with an exaggerated Mexican accent, and also speaking
Spanish. Gabriel Iglesias will voice the character.

workshop page.

There are also two film-themed Microsoft Learn lessons, targeting more experienced coders,

older teens, high school and college-aged students, and adults, that focus on how to use player

stats to make real-time decisions in the middle of a game. The first lesson includes predicting

efficiency ratings with machine learning and Visual Studio Code, using data from human and

Tune Squad basketball players. The second lesson includes building a web app that uses

additional machine learning models in real time to help a coach decide who needs a water break

and who should be put in the game to yield the highest likelihood of winning.

The video game contest, coding workshops and lessons align with Microsoft's greater skilling

initiative, which aims at helping 25 million people — including those from underrepresented

populations —acquire new digital skills and apply them to their passions.

ABOUT SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY

Welcome to the Jam! Basketball champion and cultural icon LeBron James goes on an epic

adventure alongside timeless Tune Bugs Bunny with the animated/live-action event "Space Jam:

A New Legacy," from director Malcolm D. Lee and an innovative filmmaking team including

Ryan Coogler and Maverick Carter. This transformational journey is a manic mashup of two

worlds that reveals just how far some parents will go to connect with their kids. When LeBron

and his young son Dom are trapped in a digital space by a rogue A.I., LeBron must get them

home safe by leading Bugs, Lola Bunny and the whole gang of notoriously undisciplined Looney

Tunes to victory over the A.I.'s digitized champions on the court: a powered-up roster of

basketball stars as you've never seen them before. It's Tunes versus Goons in the highest-stakes

challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron's bond with his son and shine a light on the power

of being yourself. The ready-for-action Tunes destroy convention, supercharge their unique

talents and surprise even "King" James by playing the game their own way.

MOVIE CLIPS:
ADVICE FOR FACING THE NEWS MEDIA
Some quick tips to put you at ease when being interviewed

1. Remember to stay on message.

2. Be positive and respectful of the interviewer and their time.

3. Pause for a second and think before you answer a question - sometimes words can be

caught out of context. Avoid anything that can be misinterpreted.

4. Always be truthful. Liars get caught.

5. Know what not to say (view following page). Remember your media training.

6. You have a right to not answer a question, if you so choose.

7. Ask for clarification if you are unsure of the reporter's question. This helps avoid

miscommunication.

8. Tell the reporter if you can’t answer a question at all because you don’t know the answer,

or you can’t because the information is private.

9. Small talk is always a good way to break the ice.

10. Always come prepared for the worst but expect the best.

11. Wear the clothes that most reflect you and the values of your brand.

12. Incorporate the question within the start of your answer.

13. Maintain control of the conversation. Keep answers short and sweet and the interviewer

will continue asking for more information.

14. Be aware of your body language during an on camera interview. (Smile!)

15. Be yourself!

16. Finally, keep in mind, the reporters are people too. Don’t be intimidated. It will all be

fine.
WHAT NOT TO SAY/DO

Some quick tips that can help you avoid crisis communication. Or, just help you feel better when

being interviewed.

1. Do not limit yourself to the subject matter of the questions.

○ If you find yourself uncomfortable with the subject matter - or wish to bring up

something or a story related to the interview questions - you can always string the

conversation in a different direction. But, always remember to be on brand and

avoid miscommunication.

2. Don’t leak any sensitive information about the movie that is not already out. Avoid

questions that pressure you to answer this.

○ Accidental or on-purpose spoilers ruin the movie for the fans and are bad for the

press. Avoid spilling sensitive production secrets as well.

3. Avoid negative conversations about other people or companies.

○ No one likes malicious gossip. Always remain positive.

4. Do not say ‘no comment’ it looks defensive and is tantamount to an admission of guilt.

○ If you must avoid a question, respond with a comical retort. Something like: “I

wish I could tell you, x reporter. But I may get into some trouble for that!” It is

both mysterious and comical enough to avoid coming off as defensive and rude.

5. Do not let your emotions get the best of you on camera.

○ Keep your emotions in check. If something were to stir up negative (or positive)

emotions, remember actions have consequences. Always remember: would this

look good in hindsight?
