A LESSON PLAN in 7th Grade English

I. Learning Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
a) Identify the preposition from a given instruction
b) Perform/follow instructions which use preposition and imperatives
c) Show understanding of the topic by creating a tutorial video which contains
procedures that observe the use of prepositions and imperatives

II. Subject Matter


Topic: Prepositions and Imperatives in Giving Instruction

 Lesson Proper

A. Activity
The class will be divided to 3 groups. It will be their home group for the
entire session. Each activity will have an equivalent LIKE CHIP. The
home group that will have the most number of LIKE CHIP by the end of the
session will receive a prize.

The teacher will play as Simon and the students will be the players.
Students will only follow commands succeeded with “Simons Says”. The
student that will get it wrong will sit. The group that will have the most
number of students standing by the end of the game will win.
Commands:
1. Raise your hands ABOVE your head.
2. Put your right hand INSIDE your pocket.
3. Put your left hand ON your chest.
4. Point your fingers BETWEEN your eyes.
5. Wrap your arm AROUND your waist.

B. Analysis
Follow up questions:
1. What are the prepositions used in the game?
2. Give examples of the given imperative sentences.

Prepositions are words being used in determining specific
location.
Correct usage of preposition is important in giving instructions
using imperative sentences to provide accurate direction.
Knowledge of the function of the preposition is vital to be able to
use it correctly.

Group 1:
Robert is a treasure hunter. He found an old map at their attic. Will you
help Robert find his treasure? Draw the course of the map based on the
following imperative sentences.
Instructions:
1. From the house, go around the tree.
2. Next, go over the fence.
3. Then, across the street.
4. And then go behind the red brick wall.
5. Dig the treasure on the ground.

Group 2:
Jane was left at home while her mom is at work. Her mom left her a note
for her household chores. Identify the prepositions Jane’s mom used on
her note.

To do:
1. Sweep the floor underneath your bed.
2. Wash the dishes on the sink.
3. Throw the garbage in the dumpster.
4. Arrange the books inside the cabinet.
5. Go to the pet shop across the market and buy dog food for Milo.
Group 3:
Brad is working on his art project. They were asked to create an origami.
Please help Brad get an A on his art project. Follow the instructions to
create an origami. One representative will demonstrate the procedures in
front.

1. Start by folding the red paper diagonally. Fold into a triangle. Grab the
top corner of the triangle, one layer only, and fold it towards the
bottom.
2. Now grab hold of the left (or right) corner of the triangle and fold it
towards the middle (as indicated by the pink dot). Crease well.
3. Repeat with the other corner. Unfold.
4. Grab the left (or right) corner of the triangle again, this time bringing it
to the top (as indicated by the pink dot). Crease.
5. Repeat with the other side. Now tuck the flap into the pocket, grab the
top as indicated by the dot and push it inside the pocket. Do the same
with the other. Crease.

III. Evaluation
Suppose you are a Youtube vlogger, create a DIY or do-it-yourself
tutorial video. The video must observe the use of preposition and
imperative through the procedures. It must not be less than 3 minutes
and should not exceed 5 minutes. It will be graded according to the
following criteria:
Content - 50 points
Organization - 30 points
Visual Appeal - 20 points
100 points
