1. Introduction
SAP ChaRM is a tool delivered with SAP Solution Manager that manages activities performed during a
change from design to testing to final promotion to production system. It allows you to track change
requests, transport requests in change management system in the entire business solution.

SAP ChaRM uses a workflow based approval for transport management, audit-proof documentation of
the functional changes in solution landscape.

What is SAP ChaRM

 Enforces Standardized change process (ITIL Based)


 Manages, track and categorize Change Requests
 Test execution of changes in the target system
 Transport Scheduling and Tracking
 Comprehensive Reporting on complete Change history
 Documentation of implemented changes
 Minimize business disruptions

Benefits:

 SAP ChaRM allows organization to control and manage changes in the SAP system efficiently.
 It guaranties that any change to SAP system follows the standard process flow and procedures with
mandatory controls and documented steps.

2. Change request mangement:
To proceed with the ChaRM configuration in solution manager,the below prerequiste steps must be
completed.

1.Mandatory configuration

2.Managed system confiuration for all the managed systems included in Charm process

In the Solman_setup the below configurations are made as part of AW process.

The below are the Automatic activities, click on execute all it will schedule a BG job to execute all the
activities

Master note must be implemented in solution manager system.

Once the Managed system configuration completed we can manually put this in to Performed.

Here, we have configured CSOL & DGP

The below changes made in the T-code TMWFLOW/CONFIG_LOCK

Now, we can manually set the execution status to Performed after the making above changes.

3. Define Change Process: Mandatory steps performed in this.

Copy Transaction types:

Go to Transaction AI_CRM_CPY_PROCTYPE to copy the standard transaction to custom

Normal Change: (SMMJ ->ZMMJ)

After updating the transaction type the issue resolved.

Urgent Change: (SMHF ->ZMHF)

Check Transport-Related Customizing Auto-Fix: Executed the report as per the display documentation &
set the status to Performed.

3. Managed system setup: Should complete for the Managed systems involved in the Charm
configuration

1. Configure LMDB: Check if the systems are present in the LMDB.

Select the managed system for which configuration to be done

Check software prerequisites:

Go to Se38 and run RTCCTOOL report to check if any plugins are missing.

All are green so set the status to Performed.

Configure change & transport system: Performed only Mandatory steps.

Define transport domain controller: Domain controller should be present for the managed system.

Activate Extended Transport Control: Parameter CTC=1 should be added to all the systems in the
transport group.

Define Transport Routes: Check if the transport routes are defined.

Create RFC Destination to Domain Controller: RFC from solution manager to domain controller.

Configure Transport Strategy: Make sure transport strategy & quality assurance maintained as below for
all the systems.

After performing above activities set the status to Performed.

5.Select client: Select the client for the managed system

Check system prerequisites:

The above RFC’s should be present in solution manager system

Check configuration item: The configuration item is available.

7.Create user master Data: creates users in solution manager

Business partners are created for the User id’s which are going to use CHARM

Activate code inspector: Go to transaction ATC & configured with the below settings in managed system.
