Module 13: Doing Self- and/or Peer-Assessment of the Creative Adaptation of a Literary Text

Activity 2: As the students were tasked to do a Literary Adaptation Of Footnote To Youth in a

form of SPOKEN POETRY in Module 12, they will also be asked to evaluate their performance
task through Self/ Peer assessment. Based from the Literary Adaptation Performance Task
given in Module 12, Do the SELF-ASSESSMENT checklist below. Put a smile face if you think you
perform well on the task and sad face if otherwise, then provide an explanation.

CREATIVE ADAPTATION
As this is a Performance
EXPLANATION Task, your teacher may
use the following rubrics to
assess your final product.

effects.

As a matter of Self-Assessment, answer the following feedback questions:

In a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the highest, I rate my performance as 4 for the following
reasons. (list two to three).

For reason number 1 I think my editing is quite good and my words can be hard clearly even
when there is a music, the second reason is that I think I wrote my script clearly because the
story of footnote of a youth happens also in my family so I know how a youth feels when
reading this story.

(if you rated yourself as 5) I achieved this performance because.

I’m sorry but I didn’t write 5

(if you rated yourself otherwise) What will make me rate myself a 5 are the following reasons:
If I will rate myself in a perfect score of 5 I should be confident while talking, and put more
necessary emotions while performing that particular activity and lastly for me to be proud of
myself that I can write a script like that without the help of others.

In this activity, I was able to discover (enumerate contemporary issues you learned from the
Literary Text)

1. It is hard to write a script of a literary text if you didn’t gets the main point and the idea of
what you are reading.

2. The pressure in writing and reading the script you made if it connects and adapts in the
literary text that you read.

3. And lastly the shame and embarrassment in seeing myself in a video.

In this activity, I was personally able to learn about

How it is not easy to adapt a literary text in making a spoken poetry, the script that you
personally made should be connected in that literary text, you should really understand the
literary text that you will adapt also if it is possible read it again and again until you imagine the
scenarios and feel the emotions in that particular literary text.

Module 14: Understanding literary meanings in context and the use of critical reading
strategies: (Outlining)

WRAP–UP

To wrap everything up that we have talked about in this lesson, let’s have this activity,
complete the following statement:

An Outline is a tool used to organize your written ideas about a topic into a logical order and an
Outlining is a high level skill which involves identifying relationships between concepts and
arranging those concepts in an orderly manner. It presents a picture of the main ideas and the
subsidiary ideas of any subject.

How can outlines be useful when reading a paragraph or essay like in the passage read?
Because it makes it easier to determine the difference between the major and minor supporting
details, it can also help me to a reading that is difficult and for me to discover the main idea in a
book, novel etc.

Module 15: Understand literary meanings in context and the use of critical reading strategies:
Summarizing

WRAP-UP

Activity III.3-2-1: Be able to write3 things that you’ve learned; 2 things you want to know more
about; and 1 question that you have about summarizing.

Three things I have learned about summarizing

1. I have learned that a summary is a short version of a longer original source written in one’s
own words.
2. A summary can be used as to sum up a bulk of information, to present information concisely
and cohesively and to state only the main and most essential points without detailed
explanation of the original text.
3. I have learned that summarizing synopsizes a selection’s main argument in brief
Two things I want to know more about summarizing
1. Can a summary used in writing a short story?
2. Does a summary is called a summary if it has too much unnecessary information?
One question I have from the lesson discussed about summarizing
1. how can you write a summary if you don’t know how to determine the main idea and the key
point in a book, novel etc.

VALUING

Activity VI. My Takeaway: To summarize what you have learned, fill in the table and state
briefly the importance of summarizing in the following areas of a student like you.

1. Academic Writing Summarizing is important for us students

because it teaches us how to discern the most
important ideas in a text and it improves our
memory in what are we reading.
2. Conducting a research Study It is also important in conducting a research
study because it provides an overview of the
study and also enables us to organize and
summarize our research paper.
3. Story Telling Summarizing is important in story telling for
the listeners to not be bored in the
unnecessary information and to keep It short
and precise.
