Molecular marker analysis are done for prognosis of
clinical disorders, identification of infectious
organisms and therapy. This workshop will provide
hands on experience of study of DNA polymorphism
with different methodologies, which will enhance the
technical competence of the faculties and technicians
working in the field of life sciences and healthcare.
LEARNING OUTCOME
The participants will gain insight of molecular biology
techniques that are instrumental in analysis of genes
at DNA level. The molecular markers such as RFLP,
RAPD and SNP play a significant role in genetic
diversity, species identification, disease susceptibility,
gene mapping and solving criminal cases & paternity
issues.
The participants will learn about:
i. Genetic analysis with the help of PCR based assays.
ii. Finding out genes responsible for individual disease
susceptibility and response to drugs.
iii. Identification of infectious organisms.
iv. Diagnosis of hereditary diseases.

PEDAGOGY
It will be a hands on training session, demonstrating
real analysis of genome by using PCR and restriction
enzyme based tests.
RESOURCE PERSON
Dr. Deepak Bharti is the Director of CMBR
Lab Bhopal. He is Ph.D. in genetics from
Barkatullah University Bhopal and has
done postdoctorate in IISER Bhopal. He is
working in the field of immunogenetics
and has published many research articles
on SNP analysis and its effect on
Mycobacterium tuberculosis and HIV
susceptibility.
He is recipient of ‘M.P. Young Scientist Award (2007)’
and ‘Jyotiba Fule Rajya Seva Samman (2010)’. He has
successfully completed one research project
sanctioned by MPCST as principle investigator and is
currently working on other projects funded by various
national level institutions.
