LEARNING OBJECTIVE By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. Learn/ revise words related to transport
2. Ask and answer questions about which forms of transport they use
ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Teacher writes the word transport on the board. Students work in
pairs and make a list of all the forms of transport they know.
Teacher sets a time limit of 2 minutes. Teacher listens to their
ideas as a class and make a list on the board (car, bus, train, etc)
LESSON DELIVERY Activity 1 (SB page 74)
1. Students read the words in the word pool. Teacher plays
the CD. Students listen to the different forms of transport
and repeat them. They answer the question. Teacher
listens to their ideas as a class.
Activity 2 ( SB page 74)
1. Students work individually. Teacher plays the CD.
Students listen and follow the text in their books. They
complete the sentences using the words form exercise
1.They compare answers in pairs. Teacher checks answers
as a class. Note the pronunciation of yacht.

1. Students work individually and answer the questions
using the words from exercise 1. They compare answers in
pairs. Teacher checks answers as a class. Note that a coach
is used for long-distance journeys while a bus is used for
short journeys and journeys within a city.

1. Teacher nominates 2 students to read aloud the example
question and answer. Students work in pairs and ask and

LEARNING OBJECTIVE By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
1. Understand with little or no support longer simple narratives on a wide range of
familiar topics
2. Understand with little or no support longer sequences of classroom instructions
ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Find a text with a narrative or simple short story.
2. Give pupils a simple process diagram or ask them to draw one.
There should be enough space to write a sentence in each shape.
3. Tell the pupils to listen to the narrative once and stop the audio
before the end. Ask them to predict what happens.
4. Elicit back their ideas.
5. Play the rest of the audio so they can check if they were correct.
6. Now tell them to listen again and identify the key events. Tell
them to write one key event into each shape on their diagram.
7. Play the audio and let them write their ideas.
8. Ask them to compare with a partner then play the audio again so
they can add or change things.
9. Tell the pupils to compare their final diagrams with their
partner.
10. In pairs ask them to use their diagrams and retell the narrative
together. If there is time they could write it.
