Math Observation

My first view on the observation video was the classroom setting, it was not set up in a child

friendly way. I believe that this plays a role when trying to gain the children’s attention. I also believe

that when the children was answer the different questions the teacher should have had palettes

sticks or name tags, so that each students got a chance to participate and answer instead of one set

of students. The seating arrangement was also set up in a disorder way. The reason as to why I

believe it was disorderly because some students was tall and seating at the front where by it blocks

the view of some small children in the back. Another observation was the way the teacher did her

explanation she didn’t selected students randomly to see if they learn the concept, she just move on

with the problem once a student answer the question. Also when it came to the group activity and

the teacher was explaining numerous students was having their own conversation instead of listen,

the teacher did not address the issue she just continued speaking louder. The teacher also lost focus

of majority of the students in the back because she was giving majority of her attention on the front,

and at one point she also distract one of her students and he loose focus on what she was teaching.

This was seen when she had the students at the front placing the coins back in the bag. Lastly I felt

the way that the teacher addresses the behavior of one of the student played a role with that child

learning. This is because when corrected the students behavior it caused him to feel a like way

because the other student was looking at him and from that point onwards the little boy wasn’t

listen or do any work in the group.
