Effects of Social Media in SHS Grade 11 Students @ BeNHS

I. Context and Rationale


1. Introduction
Social media are internet sites where people interact with one another. They provide a place
for people across the world to share information and engage in discussions. Social media
provides the means to share graphics, videos, and audio files. Facebook, twitter instagram, you
tube, messenger, google meet, zoom.
In addition the importance of social media for today’s youth often elicits teachers to explore the
added value of educational use of these media. Today's younger generation is hooked on social
media. It can be a powerful educational tool that provides unique and dynamic learning
experiences to students and teachers alike.
Social media platforms can help to increase communication skills and provide a 'back door' for
shy learners. While many students struggle with speaking in front of their classmates, they may
feel more comfortable 'speaking' on social media. This provides an outlet for students who are
too intimidated to raise their hands in class. Furthermore, social media relies on the written
word, making it an excellent means of improving writing skills.

II. Research Question


The following are the research question
1. What type of social media in the classroom that you would prefer to adapt?
2. How does social media affect the learners in the classroom?
3. How effective is social media as a tool in educational system?

III. Proposed innovation, intervention and strategies

IV. Action Research Methods


This study is limited to 40 respondents (10 students per strands) of SHS Grade 11 @
BeNHS, it will be conducted from the start of second quarter school year 2020-2021
The researcher will utilize checklist as tool in conducting the research.

VI. COSTS ESTIMATES
This action research will estimatedly cost P1,000.00 .

VII. PLANS FOR DISSEMINATION AND UTILIZATION


There will be a survey after the 2nd quarter of the school year 2021.
The result of the study will be shared to fellow teachers during School Learning Action
Cell sessions for possible adaptation of the strategy employed.
